What is the time period for each day and night cycle on Calypso now? Can anyone in the UK tell me how the cycles correspond with UK time please? I don't like going out alone in the dark Many thanks Pennsif
4 hour day, 1 hour night. Since no multiple of this cycle matches Earths own 24 cycle, the sunsets on Calypso get later by an hour for each day that passes on Earth because the closest match is a bit under 4 Calypso Days for one Earth day. As a geek, I'd frakkin' love to see the orbit and rotation that would put Calypso in the Goldilocks zone of the Reticuli system and get 5 hour days and an asymmetric day / night cycle. :)
AlphaGeek - thanks for enlightening me on this :) Day and night cycles are fine - but it's a real pain to log on and find its nightime when I fancied a quick hunt. I'm afraid to go out in the dark It would be really cool to have some sort of Day / Night indicator on the forum here so anyone could check the 'time of day' before logging on. No idea how difficult / easy that would be to implement though. Many thanks Pennsif
The different servers have "shifted" day/night cycles if i am not completely mistaken, so if it's night on one server you can always hunt somewhere else when you prefer daylight.
Yup... I haven't taken any time to track whether it follows any predictable progression, but there are definitely areas that are daylight while others are in darkness. I often hop about "chasing the sun" :)
