Ahem, Una's right! So, profession it is. It is quite simple actually to use the Profession levels instead of the skills. So to sum up everything. You can forget my earlier post since I misunderstood what Una and Burger were talking about. The problem stands between choosing skills or professions as the criteria for entering the competition.

Since we have to scan people for the competition, there must be a profession level limit. I choose level 5 in any profession. I know it seems low enough, but checking my stats, I have almost 1K points in longblades and I'm level 4 in Swordsman (Hit) Profession. It is exactly as Una said. Skills and Professions don't grow together.

I confused you all again. I'm sorry. I think Una has cleared everything up now. :D Thx m8! :)

  2. We have 2 things to get right here:

    1) Making sure entrants are newbies - doesn't have to be very exact
    2) Judging skill gains as one of the criteria for winning. Has to be exact

I was planning to judge skill gains according to if the entrant was scanned or posted skills.

I think that because of this we should make it mandatory to post skills. If people hack images so be it. They are usually easy to spot, and the effort is disproportionate to the award.

Scanning should just be a secondary check i.e. we should be able to get a rough idea if skill increases are 'real' by checking PS levels before and after skills postings.

To make it even more complicated, unless we scan entrants on the 1st and 31st then they could gain extra skill son those days. Is that fair?

So if all agreed we should ask entrants to post skills AND be scanned before and after, unless they do not wish skill gains to be part of their entry.

Sounds fair, I'll post my skills and I hope Burger's post of the scan he did for me is valid. I'd also like to contribute to the prize, I have a few pieces of Knight male armor.

  4. Thanks Yanick - and if anyone else wants to donate too, they will all go toward the prize for the next competition which should be February 2008 :)

  5. You're welcome!

  6. Thanks very much for your entry - I think the way you made your submission is great, and makes our life very much easier. +REP
I would like all the other entrants to do this too, but we won't make it a requirement of entry for this month as it's now a little late.

Yes the time helps, but I think that anyone sad enough to go to those lengths to cheat is only cheating themselves out of valuable time ;)

There is no limit on when you started playing, because it's very hard to determine this and depending on how much/how you play your skills can change very differently.

    Welcome and good Luck!

  10. I tried to post in the December 2007 entrants, but that thread was closed. I'd like to post my skills from the correct screens that Phunk and Burger told me to post. Please review and let me as I get the feeling that I may/will have to drop out of the contest.

    Thanks,
    Sylc

  11. Sorry Sylc but one cantbe returned I think we changes the entry to only need professional standings scans.

You already had these so didn't need to post skills too.

Sorry it's all been so confusing this time around folks! Next time will be easyier when we've ironed out the kinks ;)
