Microsoft is apparently a big fan of Ska Studios, the developer behind The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai. In addition to signing them for an in-development sequel, Microsoft has picked up Charlie Murder, a four-player arcade beat 'em up shown off as recently as PAX East, for Xbox Live Arcade.

Charlie Murder was intended as yet another Xbox Live Indies release. Ska Studios has seen great success experimenting with the service, ala I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1NIT!!!1.

You won't be playing Charlie Murder anytime soon, however. It's scheduled for 2012. Why?

"Charlie Murder was initially announced in January and developed as an Xbox Live Indie Games title," explained Ska Studios marketing coordinator Dustin Burg to me in an e-mail this morning. "Now, seeing as Microsoft is on board as the publisher and is bringing it to Xbox Live Arcade, the scope of the project has changed dramatically. Seeing as it was already announced, already shown as an Xbox Live Indie Games title and even missed the original release date, we felt we had to let everyone know the status of the project and the reality that it's going to be a 2012 release."

A sequel to The Dishwasher, entitled The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile, has no release date.
