Grrr!! More grief with the domain name. A quick straw poll to see what you guys think. Should I persevere and get the old domain name back, or move to a new one?
I voted for the .net address, as it sounds less like a company or government office than .com or .org but basically I don't mind what it is changed to. Whatever is easiest and cheapest to set up. :D
Same opinion as Burgerman. I voted .net as well. And about the cheapest and easiest part I agree. Whatever suits you best Phunksta. :)
The only problem with abandoning the old one is people being able to find the new site. And all the links out there to us will be broken. So I voted for keeping the old one if possible. Of course, if it simply can't be done there's no choice but to change, in which case I'd vote for .net.
I also voted for keeping the old one because its already known at a lot of places. You may consider to expand with a second though... www.eu-chronicle.eu ;-)
Thanks everyone for your input on this. In response I have done the following: > Tried again to transfer the domain using a different method - fingers crossed! > Registered eu-chronicle.net and redirected it to the temporary site. So, for now you can use: www.eu-chronicle.net to get to the site ... and fingers crossed that we get to keep the old domain name too! Obviously more expense incurred etc. etc. hope you folks are going to be nice to me when I get around to introducing proper subscriptions! In fact if you want to be REALLY nice go to USER/CP > PAID SUBSCRIPTIONS NOW! and use the one-off donation there ;)
Woo Hoo! Back to our original home! We're back! You can now use the proper address to access the site: www.EU-Chronicle.com
Yes - they said 3 hours but it seems to be taking longer. Also it will be a redirect not a 'true' domain name until I get home and make the appropriate changes. I was just so happy that the domain transfer worked I had to shout for joy!
