Ok since this concept has died a bit (The concept of new ideas that is) here is a new one and most likely an old one. But here it is for the sake of completeness and getting it said again!. Dual wielding knives and pistols!!! I mean i would use these if i could dual wield them. Talk about your damage output! I mean is this really any different then having a rifle at the same level? I guess skills would become easier to get since you are using multiple guns but that is relative to speed of decay. I would love to see this in game! Id be using two pistols instead of 1 rifle if i could! It also makes more since ... i mean who in real life gets away with fighting with a rifle at close range? No you need hand guns (Plural).
Good idea Shim, as a knife wielder I would welcome a second weapon. i would suggest that once a certain level is reached in fist, knife, pistol or other suitable weapon that the two handed skill is unlocked for that weapon. Fists would really be like boxing then :) If both weapons are the same all that needs to be done is double the attack rate. Only a bit more complex if they are different. Talking of using two hands I would certainly like to see shields introduced.
Something that doesn't really stick here but you two gave me the idea. It would be nice yet totally unprofitable for MA to introduce Unarmed Combat. Great way for noobs to get some free PED instead of sweating all the time.
I've always liked this idea I guess that MA's money driven philosophy can't work out how to allow you to do twice the damage without taking some sort of extra 'tax' from you. If you pick up 2 reasonable shortblades you could easily do lots more damage than a much more expensive longblade (to make a fair comparison). There would need to be a 'nerf' or some type so your 'output' in damage was only about 150% of wielding a single blade; left hand weaker; slower strokes, but with both blades. I'm sure if they could achieve a good balance that this would greatly enhance the knifefighter, brawler etc professions.
This is actually not realy a concern! You introduce several new skills (several because one is never enough for mindark) for two handed weapons. This skill obviously at low levels would hamper hit performance if dual wielding. At higher levels it still per weapon would hamper a bit from a single weapons. So dual wielding is less efficient then 2 people with single. DPS is good. Now already there is decay per wepon 2 weapons still decay the same rate each per use. All they have done now is allowed a different style for the same damage decay, added a new set of skills and made some of the less used professions such as shortblades, pistol, fists more fun. Honestly it is no different for MA if a person has 2 blades or one. The damage per pec is still arround 4 MAXED and 2.5 average. If the worry is that people will stop using single blades you could made a requirement of having to have a certain level to Dual wield a certain weapon. So say your level 10 Shorblades you wield main hand at the full level 10 and say your two handed knife is level 3 you would wield your off hand at level 3. Now lowbee players cant go storming CP with 2 level 10ish weapons.
If such dual wielding would happen I would guess at around lvl 40-50 profession in both damage and hit would have to be concidered in regards to good economy for the dual wielding. But one should be able to dual wield at around lvl 5 prof in dmg and hit. Of course the eco of such is non-existant and should only be done if you are a good depositor. The damage output I doubt would help you at all because lets face it MA won´t allow anyone in-game to down a mob faster for more profit. So they would balance it out with something like a huge skill nerf again or even make creatures not loot as well! Would it be cool? For sure! Practical? Not that much... Would I dual wield with a short blade? Nope! With the current decay rate it would be suicide on my wallet! I´d rather buy the shortblade chips in auction after someone did a nice session... But then again one can´t chip strenght hmm... The spiral begins hehe Dual wielding rifles... now there is an idea! Rambo did it so why can´t I?
