Entropia VU News: Entropia Universe 15.8.6 Release Notes

  1. Fixed Issues

    • Fixed an issue causing password recovery to not work
    • Fixed an issue causing the client to not start in some situations
    • Fixed an issue causing the shader cache to not be cleared during an update

    MindArk and the Planet Partners strive to ensure a smooth and problem-free Version Update. Nevertheless, even after extensive testing some issues may arise after release. Such issues are often addressed via mini-patches directly after a release and in subsequent patches. If you feel that the possibility of encountering minor issues or bugs directly after a Version Update affects your gameplay to an extent that Entropia Universe is not enjoyable, please wait until the mini-patches have been released and any last minute issues have been resolved.

  2. VU 15.8.6 :

    On VU 15.8.5 we were told they were doing a mega update of 4GB to smooth slightly the game, and in fact all items or many in inventories were wrong displaying red cross and some items boxes like nova & enhancers had their display box increased creating an incredible mess.

    Now on VU 15.8.6, EVERYTHING IS COMPLETLY FUCKED !!!!!!!!!
    Great job mindark, you really have the right office name "mind" ..... ark, are you really sure ?????
    This is for me the WORST VU ever.... and you would be nice not to accuse my graphic card or whatever like you do all the time.
    Everything was PERFECT before YOU do all this fucking mess ! For stuff that nobody cared....
    The perfect VU to force people to do mistakes (mindark never refund people, or simply accuse them).

    When do you plan to release the Plot System ? instead of introducing systems that have NEVER been schedulled in the State of universe ?

    After relogging, just the mindforce tab is fucked when all others changed to almost normal unless the fact that some stacks are displaying red cross when they were displayed correctly before.
    Anyway, I just checked "now" my storage, and the same hawfull fucked dispaly is operating there...
    What a fantastic VU mindark, it showes your incredible ability to react against bugs (as usual)....

    Interesting... most if those icons are fine for me. Blazar has a black background and violot paint had a red cross but now doesn't. I'm a little concerned about the removal of the clear cache button... I think you can do it manually by deleting files but I am not sure

    Folks, don't post such pictures please!
    Until now I was disappointed of the former beloved game. When I see such pictures I start to condemn MindArk because of their non-professionality. Low budget or little staff is no excuse.
    ...
    I pretend to myself that all your computers are too old or have old videocard drivers or are configured in a wrong way at all. Must be all your fault!

    I saw some talk in Rookie that switching to high and back to whatever mode you were in will solve the issue. There seemed to be some confirmation that this worked

    Just SAD that each time mindark suck, the players have to find solutions... particularily when they release an update supposed to fix things...

  13. they said on pcf that the cache option was causing the game to crash, this is why they removed it i think temporarily.
    The reset cache was a good thing (that I used very often), so I think it will be back once fixed.

    My understanding is that they only removed the manual option and made it automatic, because people missing this step caused them a lot of support cases. There is still a large number of clients where it didn't solve the problem though.

Unless i'm wrong.... it is not possible to make it something auto, because each time you cross new "objects", the game loads new textures, 3d models and so on, so make an auto feature to reset the cache would need a lot of CPU ressource, which i feel is not possible or at least would be a bad idea...
    I simply think they work to fix the cache issue and we should see it back once ok.

    Not while the game is running ofc, but either upon starting the client or an update. They said in the 15.8.6 Release Notes: "Fixed an issue causing the shader cache to not be cleared during an update." Since the button for manual clearing is gone, I assume this was the one point where it made sense from their side. I don't fully understand what the shader cache exactly caches, but apparently not the object icons for inventory.
     
  17. I must agree on one thing with you, it is the shader cache, and it is behaving (as they stated) when downloading an update.
    Well, all we can do is wait they fix it, and hope they put it back as it was usefull for the computer performance.

    Btw, I dont really see the need to have an anisotropic setting in the graphic settings.
    I can understand its use on a 3d software, but here....

    From my point of view it may cause an issue. When I experimented with Rift stuff I had a lot of weird shit going on with textures not loading or something - it reminded me of my old broken graphics card. If I reset the cache this was fixed. But I had to do it again when I went back to normal display iirc. I haven't done Entropia in Rift for ages though so guess no real biggy but I did have a thought to pick it up again one day. I think tech, software, firmware and drivers may have moved on though so I think I'd be starting again regardless. One of the things I fixed for example was the big moon and stars moving around strangely but we don't have the big moon anymore haha. Another "step in the wrong direction" maybe...?

    I wonder how far, if anywhere, MA actually got with VR support. I'm guessing far enough to decide "this is too much work" or perhaps actually nowhere.

    Knowing MA, it was probably just the easiest way to pump out yet another press release without any substance. The one thing they actually excel at.
