    OK my 2 cents here.
I don't think it is a good idea and lemme tell you why.
At the office we have a Rift and a while back I brought it home with me, played some of the demo things for it, which was fun, get Portal 2 to work and played that a while, untill I got sick. This weekend I brought it home again to try something for the office, which didn't work and did not try to play any game on it. What I mean is that the novelty wears off very quick and in the end you end up with a big heavy thing on your head, that is not that comfortable (especially with glasses).

One other thing is that you need a very high end video card to run a game on that thing, mainly because it has to render the images 2x and with the lag EU already has for a lot of people I don't see this working very well. And there is more. CryEngine 2 does not support the Rift, so they would have to hack something together to get it to work, so that's not going to work either.

So it is just another example of MA trying to get people in the game by this kind of news and in the end it doesn't work or is so bad that nobody uses it (ingame voice chat anyone?)

  5. Typical MA, nothing new. Quick to make announcements, years, if ever to implement. Maybe McCormick will pop up to list them for us...I lost count.

  8. Yeah I was guessing they did but then when seeing that they used RT Kong and how odd this sounds it kind of sounded like ND here more than MA..

Totally agree, see my other posts on the Rift. I haven't tried the latest vireo release for Crysis though so may have a go at that tonight and see how it stacks up on the rift (if I can get it working).

I don't think MA will go through with this TBH. "optimizing the Entropia Universe platform to fully Support Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 (DK2)" they can't even optimise it to run on a normal PC! I'm not a frame rate snob at all, (can cope with 15-20fps normally) but on the Rift you NEED 75fps solid or else you get a sort of double vision. It is bearable but not nice for any length of time.

There is no way MA can pull it off. Even 3d with cryengine 2 in entropia is a bit weird.

I just learned that the Oculus Rift consumer version will be for sale in Q1 2016. So a good reason for MA to postpone the VR support I guess :)

  12. I've been waiting for this for a couple years since I got the first Dev kit for the Oculus, I've played in VR many times since then and it is a great way to enjoy entropia.

I have been sending support tickets in requesting this for some time, glad they finally are doing it!

McCormick has discovered that the next SDK release for the rift will phase out DX9 support... I guess we could call that "a problem" ;)

Just another bad move ... but don't worry! They won't be able to run this. I mean, who would buy an OR and a new videocard or even a new comp to play EU?

P.S. Once I bought a new comp for EU's conversation to CryEngine. But that was way in the past when I thought it could be a good idea to continue at a "higher level" with EU. But nowadays?
