Lots of stuff happened this weekend. We figured a small recap summarizing everything would be a good thing to have.

    * RAZER was brought on board as Mr. Wiki.

    * The winners of the EP Picture contest were announced.

    * An mobile skin was introduced.

    * A modification was installed that will automatically merge multiple subsequent posts by the same user into the first post made.

    * We did some visual tweaking as a response to your feedback to try and put more information on the same page. The results of this is a cool looking merger of the navigation bar and our logo, and some grouping of some of the custom tools for EP in the navbar. (Please let us know what you think of it :))

    * Fixed a minor issue where the EntropiaBay banner would not show when browsing the gallery.

    * Some more monthly and YTD statistics were added to the tracker stats.

    * The sidebar under your avatar, now not only lists your globals, but also your rankings within our tracker, with a little surprise in case you happen to be in the top 3 of any of the categories. Please keep in mind that these rankings are based on the data we collected thusfar, and by no means claim to be completely representative. Direct access to the ladders is here. I just finished the front-end functionality for it, but will further integrate it into the tracker and the rest of the forum tomorrow.

On my to-do list for tomorrow is rewriting part of the merge functionality to make it less resource heavy on the server, adding more support for locations (we added them quite a while ago, but I want to expose data filtered per location as well), and some general maintenance behind the scenes.

Have a good one, everybody and please let us know what you think works well, and what could use improvement. Your feedback is important to us, and we will constantly be evaluating how we can make the forum even better :)

I love the vast progress made in the short existence. It's fantastic. I also have to laugh at the "Help Shinoobi" functionality that was added.

    * Fixed a bug in the ladder system. Due to me having sat coding all day I somehow messed up a little and it only showed the Overall ladder. The inidivual ladders should now show up.

    * I rewrote part of the merge functionality, to try and prevent the site from getting bogged down. I'm now moving onto cleaning up dupes that somehow still managed to enter the system.

Great work and thanks for all these new developments. :beerchug:

  5. Looking forward to seeing something innovative in the tracker department, instead of just copying features/ideas from entropia tracker.

Stuff which you by the way can get for free from the XML feeds on Entropia Tracker.

Ah yes. A ladder/scoring system is absolutely not something that would be quite natural when you track globaldata. Heck, you should have patented the idea.

By the way, just out of curiosity, but do you see me troll every thread regarding your tracker, too, or claim that you now offering the location data from the global feeds (which we have had up here for quite some time before you added it) is something you ripped from our tracker?

  7. Location data was added about 5 hours after the VU... So I dont know how i could have done it much faster than that...

I just find it funny that you make a new tracker, yet none of your features are new... I would imaging if you had the urge to make a new "forum / tracker / wiki" you would have some ideas on new features to the site - so you would actually have something new to offer.

If you have read all my posts regarding your tracker and client. I think its a cool feature with the PM's .. A new feature no one else have... Something new.. I think thats cool....

You start with the basics - even you must know that. Just give it time - I'm sure your needs will be satisfied!

  9. Well..
In this case, with a tracker, im not sure I agree.

    Here's the reason why:
You need accurate data to get the basics working...
Hence, you need a lot of ppl to run your client.
To get people to run your client, you need to offer them something special.
The PM system, which again, I think is cool - is something special.

But another thing could a nice site with unique features.
To only have "basic features" which is also avalible on Entropia Tracker does not promote your tracker over entropia tracker.

I agree, that "live lists", mob look-up's.. and so on it something thats needed... Im just saying.. if that kind of features is all you are going to offer, I dont think you will get that many to run your client.

And then it will be useless to have nice features later on - if the data is inaccurate.

    To sum up:
I would make something unique, cool, "integrated" (as the PM's) ... to get ppl to run the client... Then make the "borring common features"....

As I said, be patience, grasshopper - I'm sure you get what you wish for ... But we had to start somewere. You also need forum sections on a forum to start up, even though all the other forums offer the same ...

So... start with pretty stuff and then add functionality later? I think that might be a bad way of doing things...

  12. The reason why i am not getting involved in your little chidlish sandbox fights is because i am too busy making EPTracker the best tool out there, with lots of cool new features - features you neither had the ideas nor the coding knowledge to implement them.

However, enjoy the the last few days of picking on our tracker, i'm 100% confident you will soon stfu forever.

    Have a nice day

P.S.: Wouldn't it be necessary for ET to actually have innovative ideas in order be "stolen from"?

Well, the complete forum integration we offer is pretty unique. As in people don't need to sign up for another site if they already have an account here, and if they fill in the neccessary fields, their profiles will automatically show the data, as opposed to having to parse in a signature.

We built the basics first (live feed, merged data that's searchable, etc), and are just adding things as we go. The ladder system is something I think is pretty basic for a tracker, and probably one of the main reasons people do use a tracker client; they want to see how well they do compared to the next person.

People are also interested in statistics, which is why I added quite a few of those already, and will continuously be adding and enriching.

The location hass been broadcast already for a while, and not only since the last VU. I'm not entirely sure when we added it, but I suppose I could find out if you really wanted. We merely show an icon with an alt tag for now, but we have plans to expand the functionality quite a bit with it. Making locations searchable is something I plan adding today (After all, why just record them if you can also offer the data?).

I'm also going to make stuff more organised, and group similar data together (hunting, mining, crafting). That's not because I am copying stuff from other places, but merely because it makes sense to have this done in such ways. When we initially released, we offered some real basic stuff, but with the latest additions, it might now make more sense to start logically grouping things together.

Like you said, what we release now is pretty basic, but that's how things are when you just started. Our tracker has only been around for two weeks or so, so of course it's a work in progress. As we speak, the client is being taken to its next phase, which will have quite some new functionality (new for our client, not neccessarily unique (like wisszss stated right after the last VU Was released, we'll offer feedback on the miss and damage data, something which I believe you also added (heck, we're all reading the same chatlog, so there's bound to be similar functionality)), though there will also be some unique stuff).

  14. Whatever.. You are a very very angry person... I hope everything is well IRL?

We do offer the XML feeds so forum admins can integrate Entropia Tracker into their forum. Some sites already does this - I guess you are referring to EF. I cant say why they havent done so. But its possible via Entropia Tracker's XML feeds.
We just offer the signatures so our users who uses forums that dosent use the XML feed can still have their ingame stats on the site some way. :)

    As a general note.
I do like how you are integrating everything into one site.
I do like the rank/ladder positions in the "userprofile thingy" in the left hand side.

Also, it makes sense to you to track discoveries as its "person based" information. Where it dosent on Entropia Tracker since we cant really build any meaningfull charts on that. But here it would make sense to have it in the "userprofile thingy" - XXXX discoveries...

See, I havent picked on that.
    New stuff i like.

By forum integration I meant adding all the bits like the ladder ranking and personal global scores. I saw the XML feed implemented on some other sites, but that's (in my humble opinion) more like plugging in a new module, wereas we dive into the vB database, codebase and templates, to truly integrate.

Not sure we will do that. It was the intention, but I'm afraid it's clutter up the profile. For now, the discoveries, tiering and event globals CAN be seen in our tracker, we just do not do much else with them, as, like you said, there's little statistical sense in it.

  16. From: www.entropiatracker.com/api/api.asp

Get informations about a specific player / team.
    input:
    - lookupPlayer
    - playerName
    returns:
    - playerID
    - playerName
    - huntingRank
    - miningRank
    - craftingRank
    - socName
    - isTeam (bool)

So.. if you wanted to code a little.. You could get the same. :)
The site narfi has just uses another of the xml feeds.
Currently there is +10 different xml's you can get. :)

Like you have the number of globals in hunting, mining and crafting I would place an icon for discoveries and the number of discoveries there. :)
    (Same with PK)

  17. :openmouth:

    :headscratch:Dont get it:(

What he means is, that you have a habbit of posting posts in a row instead of putting it together. We now made a new feature where the system will automaticly merge posts together, if they are in a row and posted by the same person - into the first post posted .. geesh, not easy to explain - but take a look in the father jack thread, and you see what I mean ...

  19. Again.. cool feature... :)
    Something new.. I like :D
