EntropiaPlanets Tracker: Anonymous tracking now possible

After seeing requests of people who wish to have their globaldata to remain safe from prying eyes in the EntropiaPlanets tracker, we want to announce this can now be done!

If you wish your global data to be hidden, simply go to User CP, select: "Edit your details", and near the bottom, you will see a new option called: "Anonimze tracker data". If you set that to "Yes", and ensure you properly filled in your AvatarName (two fields up, under "Ingame Name"), your data will no longer show up in searches.

As we have an automated job filling some data, you might experience a slight delay inbetween setting the option and the global data dissappearing, but this should never take longer than 15 minutes, as that is the frequency with which the job runs.

The counters in your profile will not be affected by this (so you can still show off your accomplishments, but without revealing the exact specifics), and neither will any teamnames in which part of your avatarname is used, but the process should be pretty robust in all other cases.

Stay tuned for lots of new cool features finding their way to our tracker in the very near future :)

What if you search for a mob, will my name be listed there if ive selected to be hidden?

I am a little confused about this line: "neither will any teamnames in which part of your avatarname"

So.. If I set my avatar to be hidden... Then any team names which uses ANY part of my avatar name will be hidden?

Ie: If "Neo The Famous Trader Sharp" sets his avatar to be hidden.. Then all teams containing the name "The" will be hidden?

To start with the latter, no.

Let's say Ann Lykke The Nun chooses to anonimize her globals, if she then would be in a team called "Priest and Nun from EP", that global would NOT be filtered (precisely to PREVENT the scenario you described).

Also, other globals from other people with the name Lykke in their avatar would not be affected by it. However, a team using a name identical to that of a person who chose to privatize their data, would be affected.

And the answer to your first question is no. If someone looks for globals on a specific mob, any results by people who chose to remain private will not be shown in the resultset. I might change that in time to instead show a depersonalized name instead, though.

Thanks :) Would have been.. ehem.. dangerous to have it filter out teams with any part of the avatarname :)

Naturally. It'd also render the tracked data pretty useless if you ask me.

I will be finetuning the anonimizing feature over the next few days to make it more robust, and remove the problem with the teamnames as well as de-personalize the results so they can still be seen, but for now it's a quick fix to an issue that quite a few people feel very strongly about, and the current implementation should satisfy their requests.

Rest assured though that all stats are unaffected by the current implementation, and the only result is that for now, privacy is ensured, and the globals in questions are not retrieved. In the next few days, they will be included in the results, but without the specific AvatarName attached to it.
