I figured I'd let you in on a few changes we made today. You might have already noticed them, but here they are anyway :) First and foremost, we added two additional fields to the globalfields in your profiles, namely GlobalsTracked and GlobalsTrackedToday, which represent the number of globals we registered logged by the clients, and tallied up per user. Just for clarification, "Today" means during the last 24 hours, so this number will vary throughout the day. Secondly, we also added two gender fields. Under User CP -> Edit your details, you will not find two new fields where you can specify the gender of both you as well as your avatar. They will show up as pretty little icons under your avatar picture when you set them. In order to standardize the tracker a bit more, we switched some functionality around. Earlier, the looking glass next to a username would take you to their profile, while clicking on their name would find you all their globals, and the looking glass next to the Mobname, resource name, or item would take you to the search results, while clciking on it would take you to the wiki page. We added a new icon and linked that to the wiki page, and made it so a click now does a search. Sorry for the confusion this might create, but in the long run, we hope this will make sense. We also changed the auction functionality slightly. Before, it required you to fill in your AvatarName in a seperate field, but seeing that's now also used for tracking, we pointed the auction field to the same field, effectively ensuring you only need to fill in your avatarname once. Speaking about the tracker, I discovered something did not quite go as planned, causing an additional 100k rows in the database. I noticed when I implemented the above in the statistics, and unfortunately had to abandon some other plans for today in order to fix that. The mess has been cleaned, and things ought to be back to normal. I also did some tweaking to try and relieve the server a bit more. The problem described earlier with the maxmum of 500 results was most likely accellerating the whole performance problem, but we will leave the restrictions on there for now in order to prevent this from happening in the future. Lastly, we added a number of games to our arcade. As usual, these are in the beginning only available for our subscribing (paying) members, though you now have a way to bypass that if you download and start running the tracker, and grab yourself a free month's worth of subscription that way. Coming up very soon will be proper anonimzation of the globals, where those belonging to people who prefer their globals not to be published will be shown depersonalized in the global results, as well as more visual work to further enhance the readability of the forum. Also in the works are some additional statistics for the tracker data, and a bunch of cool new functionalities to the tracker client, hopefully ensuring the client will become the tool of choice for anyone taking Entropia seriously :) Oh, and we have been eyeing some additional mods that we are sure you will love as much as we think you will. I'll be running some tests with that early next week, and if things work out, we expect you guys and gals to suddenly be spending quite a bit more time on the site :D Stay tuned...
Keep zé good work up! Edit: Just noticed... Earler today It showed that I had reported about 6500 globals and 550 today. Now It's 1089 total and 1089 today.. wtf?
same here, my "total" and "today" uploaded globals are displayed as the same, but definitely they're not :P and, great work with all these updates, btw :)
Thanks for reporting that. I know what caused it, and will fix it. We have a staging table, which contains all the individually tracked globals, as well as the trackerid of the clients that supplied the individual globals. After we merge everything into our actual table, the trackerid vanishes, as we then only register the amount of clients that tracked the globals. The staging table thus is where the totals are calculated from. Earlier today, I cleared out the staging table in order to improve performance. However, I had the sanity to create a full backup of it upfront, so I'll ensure your totals will be correct again first thing in the morning, and I'll change the procedure to update the existing count with the current value plus the new count instead. My apologies. p.s. the reason my totals have not been reset is because I did not track any globals today. Hence, the update that checks for everyone who has been tracking has not updated my totals. Just in case you were wondering. p.p.s. I'll ensure that everyone affected will not miss out on any EPDs for tracked globals, and will award everyone with some additional EPD instead.
I implemented the changes just now, and judging by the numbers shown, the problem has been addressed. I have also awarded everyone who has been tracking so far with plenty of EPD to make up for the mistake. Where you normally would get 1 EPD per 100 globals tracked during the last 24 hours, everyone's been awarded 5 EPD per 100 globals tracked ever as a one time compensation .
thanks a lot, mr. admin !! and, checking the accumulated numbers so far, you better be prepared to display them with a "k" or "M" format for thousands or millions, otherwise soon they won't fit in the current reserved space...
Anonimization is now properly implemented. When you search for a mob, globals scored by those who indicated they wish to remain private will be shown, but marked as having been scored by "Anonymous user", enabling you to see the full historic data, while at the same time respecting the wishes of those who wish to keep their data private.
