I thought I'd make an Eve diary to promote it to anyone who wishes to have a go themselves. I won't be a liar and say that it is an easy game to play but it's rewarding once you've got past the initial high learning curve and you can pick many different ways of playing. I'm mainly a solo player now with a few alts for company having done my fair share of time in various PVP and Pirate corps. That is about as much information as I will give about my character as I don't want a gazillion Eve mails or notoriety. I'm happy being anonymous unless your a really good guess The diary will be updated when I can be arsed, could be daily or weekly but I'll let you know if I'm not bothering with it anymore, that is if I don't get shot, run over or murdered in the meantime in which case I won't :D ------------------ 17/04/2010 This morning I clone jumped my toons back from my ISK making expedition in Stain back to Derelik. It was quite a boring trip, warp to belt, kill npc's, scoop ze lewts, warp to belt, kill.... etc although I nearly bagged a Vagabond kill last night when he engaged my Neut-Domi at 15km but my game of chicken at the stargate backfired when he escaped with no capacitor remaining - damn slow assed Battleship couldn't get him in web range quick enough if I was in my Ishtar he would have been another notch on my killboard.... Back in Derelik I retrieved my newly built capital ship components (I'm in the middle of building a Carrier) from the labs and put another component blueprint in the cooker for a day. The downside to building your own capital ship is that though your components are built in high security space, Carriers and Dreadnaughts have to be assembled from the built components in low security space - you have to haul them all (and the Carrier blueprint) into low sec which takes 2 Frieghter runs. I have made one successful Frieghter run into low sec already with a few hundred mills worth of components and will be ready for my next run in about a months time (time it will take me to build the remaining components). Frieghter runs into dangerous space make your arsehole twitch like a rabbits nose - I'm using the insta-warp trick where you put the Frieghter in warp and double web it with my Rapier - but thats no guarantee that I won't be pwned in the face by some opportunists. A Rapier has shitty DPS and is no deterrent to a few pirates in Battleships.... no other game gets your adrenaline pumping like this one especially in tight situations and I've been in a few both good and bad
18/04/2010 I took a small trip to Caldari space in my Vexor of Doom this afternoon with the intention of sitting in a belt and waiting for trouble... nothing screams "kill me" more than a shitty T1 cruiser with drones out! So on finding a few suitable low sec systems for investigation I jumped one of my alts Covert Op's into the system whilst I waited on the high sec side at a nearby planet so I could scout the system without needing to attend to my main character. 2 minutes and a few hits of the directional scanner later I discover a zealot (Amarr T2 cruiser) sitting 70KM from one of the belts sniping at various people and smacking them in local - he was aligned at full speed whilst sniping so his tracking was off and wasn't doing much in the way of damage judging from some of the comments back at him. Sniping ships are usually untanked and easy prey for anything that can catch it.............and I was already too late, someone else had the same idea as me and warped onto him literally 30 seconds after I started slowboating my Covert Op's to him to get a warp in point for my Vexor. Damn, damn and three times FUCK, it's been 2 days since my last kill and I'm in need of my adrenaline fix which will be on it's way to my nervous system soon enough... I send the Cov Op's to the next system and find it is empty, this I choose as my "come kill me" system of choice.... 2 jumps later and my Vexor is in a random belt with 5 Warrior II drones out looking like a noob ratter - I leave the 3 Ogre II Heavy Drones in the drone bay for when I get jumped - Ogre II's hit hella hard and are well worth the training time. My alts are cloaked in the adjoining systems looking out for pirates and I'm sat in the belt twiddling my thumbs and waiting... solo PVP can be a lonely business and this is no exception... I switch out of Eve for a minute to fire up Winamp and listen to a few tunes while I wait, I choose Bob Marley "Exodus" album and with Natural Mystic starting playing I nod my noggin in agreement and switch back to my mains window - SHIT! There is a Caldari cruiser sitting there watching me and I'm locked and scrambled, talk about bad timing!............. I pull in my Warrior drones and pop the Ogre II's out quickly get him in range and fire away with my 3 Small Neutron Blasters and 2 Small Energy Neutralizers. He is shield tanked and is using a shield booster to repair his shield but my neuts are eating into his capacitor so he can't repair enough shield and he is dropping fast, My Vexor is armour tanked and rigged with a 1600 plate and I also have maxed armour tanking skills so even though I am only using a small faction armour repairer, this is a fight I could win in my sleep - but this is also when I see local start to rise, there was just him and myself in local a minute ago now there are 6 of us, how many of them are his friends only time will tell! Into my belt come an Exqueror and Navy Issue Amarr Cruiser... sheiitt... the Caldari cruiser is now in hull but his armour starts to go up! He is being repaired by the Exqueror and now I start to drop fast - with 2 combined ships hitting me with everything they have got including their drones there is nothing I can do to stop the inevitable and my ship goes *pop* soon after. I spam the warp button and get my capsule out of the belt back to the station and clone jump to Syndicate with my tail between my legs! It's only a shitty Vexor but in Eve each loss hurts your pride *and* your wallet!
