The title Disciple of the Month might limit the number of entries in the competition since not everyone is disciple. It's the best title however. That is because someone with 1K of skills in a profession cannot be called noob, isn't that right? So I vote for Disciple of the Month.

I think Voting would be great as long as the contestants are at maximum 10, because I think the voting system only supports up to 10 entries. Judging might confuse things.

My suggestions...

I'll definitely put up some prizes for this - how about a full noob kit? armour, gun , fap, scope, amp, clothes - a full set of nice basic stuff to help get going.

I would say anyone with no skills > 1k eligible
Entry by nomination, or from self by a proof of good acheivments in the required critera.
2 Weeks might be short - unless you have a big advertising splash - always willing to help fund ingame adverts if you put EuC on them, also you already have advert space on EuC if you make a banner.

Winner decided by panel of judges. We can rig up some sort of vote mechanism on EuC somehow I'm sure, or you run this yourself (probably the person who takes votes needs to not be a judge)

All this just my tuppence worth - eager to see everyone's thoughts on this great idea :)

I think it will be a great competition and especially as we enter the end of summer when the game will get busy again.:twocents:

 

i think it is a great idea as for the voting i think we should have at least three judges who we trust so i think we should all vote on who the judges should be

 

A very nice idea Cantbe, and +rep from me.

One suggestion might be to use Newbie to describe a new colonist who is still low in skills and who might be a disciple.

A Noob is imho a Dickhead, and often the bigger the skills and weapon, the bigger the Noob. We certainly don't need a competition encouraging anybody to be Noob of the Month. :D

 

A minimum of 30PED, and you have to be estate owner. otherwise no advertising is possible

 

I normally spend about 100 ped for a 3 day advert for EuC, so I'd say at least twice that. As said before I'm quite happy to pay it.

Ok, if the judging thing looks like the way forward we need some nominations for judges, and some criteria.

For the former I suggest we nominate 3 ppl each other than ourselves, and most popular are given the job if willing - if not then they should post that they would rather not stand.

As for criteria, maybe stuff like:
* most recent skills gain
* evidence of genuinely helping others
* evidence of community spirit

I think the perfect title it is Disciple of Month...how in fact Eike sayd!!!

 

But not all entrants will be disciples, so .....

 

Another suggestion might be "New Colonist of the Month" which automatically indicates a new player, and removes any confusion about newbie/noob status?

Also, as I don't think scanning a person can show their skill levels in points, as 800, 1000, 1500 etc - any idea on the equivalent professional ranking to look for? Weak, Novice, Trained etc, maybe these will match 1000 points so then we know a person showing Qualified in a rank is already too highly skilled?
