Did you know that online megamart Amazon.com was selling redemption codes for Xbox LIVE Arcade games? Yeah, neither did anyone else and that's why today they announced that they're yanking the service. After inking a deal with Microsoft in 2009, Amazon was selling redemeption codes for specific titles, meaning you could purchase just one game from Amazon with real money, bypassing the need for Microsoft Points. As GameIndustry.Biz reports, Amazon announced today that they would no longer be selling the codes; however, they would continue to sell Microsoft Points and subscriptions to LIVE. Amazon did not give a reason for discontinuing the service, but Joystiq is reporting that Microsoft has partnered with GameStop to start selling XBLA Content Codes in their brick and mortar stores. It's unclear whether the two events are connected or if I just told you two separate pieces of information that are completely irrelevant to each other.
