While the existence of the game was mentioned in a financial conference call way back in November 2009, (with an as-yet unknown Thor game) we finally have some details on Captain America: Super Soldier, the video game that will be coming out in conjunction with the Captain America movie. The game is a third person, action-adventure game set in World War II in which players take on the role of the Cap't while he fights his arch-enemy Red Skull and his army of bad guys. You will be tasked with infiltrating Hydra’s castle and battling "the infamous Iron Cross, the forces of Hydra, and a host of nefarious enemies serving the Red Skull." According to the announcement, Captain America: Super Soldier combines a "highly athletic combat system" with "fluid platforming and a highly tuned suite of shield attacks." The Captain's shield can be employed in numerous ways: taking out multiple enemies at once, deflecting incoming fire back at enemies, solving puzzles, and scaling walls. It's hard to truly judge from a press release, but it sounds like it could turn out to be a God of War influenced game with a Captain America vibe... not bad at all. The movie and the game will be coming out in July 2011 for DS, PSP, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360. More...
