Game of Thrones - The Final

    Last year we started a game in our family:
    Who will win the Game of Thrones? ... or survive at least. My son wrote down all our bets and ideas. Next year we will see what happens to all the remaining characters. I think, it's a cool idea. Why not play this game here at EP as well?

    My favorite character was Arya Stark since she got "Needle" as a present from her half-brother John Snow. The figures of my favorites already have a place in my living room:
    Arya Stark and Tyrion Lannister.
    After season 7 with an again pregnant Cersei Baratheon/Lannister my wife had the funniest idea: Cersei will give birth to a gnome and die during the birth.

    Okay, just two speculations. What do you think?

    Questions:
    Who will win in general? The army of the undead or men?
    If men win, who will play an important role to defeat the undead?
    And who will survive all this horror?
    Will there be any happy end at all?

    Personally, I really enjoy the break that GoT has with the typical Hollywood tendency to let heroes (and animals) survive. Nobody in GoT is safe, and as much as I hated seeing the red wedding, I think it's one of the things that makes the series so great. You get to enjoy and love a character, and then get even more emotionally invested with the series once you realize you have to say goodbye to them, despite thinking they were going to right all the wrongs. It happened in Season 1, the Red Wedding, and several times since.

    The flip side of course is that you also get to see some of the true villains bite the dust. Good riddance to Joffrey (Jack Gleeson did an absolutely marvellous job. Whenever I saw his character, I actually wanted to physically strangle him), and some of the other bad people who ended up biting the dust (even if the story made you think otherwise).

    Part of me hates the long wait we had to endure for the final season. Part of me already laments that the journey will come to an end soon.

    I am guessing that mankind will win. Based on the last few seasons, I am expecting Daenerys to play a key role in the final battle(s), with a lesser role for Jon Snow (who knows nothing). Daenerys grew into the ruler I think the story needs. Compassionate when needed, but ruthless when necessary. She managed to turn enemies into admirers, and both her and Jon have been a driving factor into rallying an army of men to put a stop to the assault of the White Walkers and their undead cretins.

    I'm hoping that both Arya and Sansa (Sophie Turner is just lovely) to survive. I'm actually not too sure about Jon Snow, but hope he lasts. I also hope The Hound and Jamie survive. They started off on the villain side, but slowly managed to redeem themselves by showing they are in fact honourable men.

    I expect Brienne to die heroically, probably defending one of the Stark sisters. I hope Cersei will get what's coming to her, and that it will be even more satisfying to watch than what happened to her son.

    I am counting on a happy end, meaning humans will avail. But I fully expect it to be at great cost. Time will tell. All we know for sure is that it'll be good!

    Well, the original title is "A Song of Ice and Fire". Ice and fire can be interpreted as House Stark and House Targaryan. Lions, roses and deers dosn't matter much.
    Strong people to defeat the undead:
    Brandon Stark, Red Woman, Samwell Tarly (?).
    Owners of weapons made of valyirian steel:
    Jaime Lannister, Brienne of Tarth, John Snow, Samwell Tarly and Arya Stark.

    So what? I agree that men will win.
    My list of survivors in case of no happy end:
    Arya Stark, Brandon Stark, Sandor Clegane, Brienn of Tarth, Tormund Giantsbane, Tyrion Lannister, Bronn.
    My list of survivors in case of a happy end:
    John Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. And some others. Probably a pregnant Daenerys ... would be a boring end. I don't expect such an end.

    It’s an amazing series, just got better and better.

    I have no idea how it’s going to end and such a shame that it has to.

    Nothing lasts forever though. <sigh>

    I haven't seen the latest series. Wondering if I should ?? Being that it's expensive on Amazon to buy or rent. Annoyingly it's not on a sensible channel/platform here in England...

    As for my guesses I don't think it'll be the usual ending i.e. no one is safe. I suspect many big names will meet there end! Because there is one thing we can be certain of , no one is safe in GoT. So all the above replies could be incorrect...

    Tarth: Winterfell.
    Clegane: Who's protecting her if you're here?
    Tarth: The only one that needs protecting is the one that gets in her way.

    Sansa: Father. When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

    Well, for me it was worth each fucking Euro I paid for it. Way better than everything else I ever saw in TV or cinema. And pretty cheap compared to the money I once spent for Entropia Universe. Just epic.

    Also you can watch for free on a Kodi streaming android box (nearly everyone I know does this and although it isn’t what TV and movie makers want you to do it’s not illegal in the UK as long as you don’t download to save).

    I bought the first few series on dvd before someone showed me Kodi and it’s save me thousands on TV and cinema content.

    I watched the first episode of the new Vikings series a few days ago on the Culussus Kodi Build.

    But yes, it’s a cat and mouse game and I had problems viewing some content on a different build I used to use.

    Obviously if you can afford eg. Netflix or Sky then that’s the better option.

    The kinslayer will try to become the sister slayer, but then attacked and severely injured by the mountain. the mountain will then have to face brienne who teams up with the hound. Mountain is slain.
    Cersei will be locked up to await trial, and will be killed before that by Arya disguised as a servant.
    Euron will get the fleet across the narrow sea, but its commander is daario naaharis, without him knowing. Theon gets his revenge and saves yara. the golden company fleet will be lead by daario and theon/yara to aid the forces at winterfell.
    Jaime recovers from his wounds and rallies all the remaining troops to also aid at winterfell
    Big battle at winterfell. many known players die.
    Daenaris and Jon snow survive, but daenaris dies giving birth to brandon eddark targaryen.
    Jon snow becomes ruler but instead of sitting on the iron throne, says the kingdoms will from now on rule themselves.

    I don't know, whenever I look at something like Game of Thrones I just see The Bold and the Beautiful/Dallas/Dynasty with medieval cosplay :D

    I’ve also crammed the first four series of Outlander though not sure the passionate love angle would be to everyone’s taste.

    Booked a holiday in Inverness to visit film locations eg. Culloden etc.

    Oh, MX5 on the Highland roads a bonus! :)

    OMG! I am jealous!
    We thought already about a tour to the film locations of GoT in Northern Ireland. But probably we have to ask for new passports meanwhile :(
