Virgin, whose upcoming gaming venture (Virgin Gaming) is touted as the "world's fastest growing online gaming community," announced today that it has partnered with Ubisoft to be the "online tournament provider" for some of the publisher’s multiplayer console releases. The first: Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Details on how the tournaments will actually work are scarce, but I do have some press release quotes from executives about how excited everyone is. We have an exciting lineup of multiplayer titles this year that we believe will be a perfect fit for gamers to play and compete against each other in a tournament setting,” said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America. Because Virgin founder Richard Branson, usually seen riding a jet-ski with a supermodel on his back, is actually interested in your hobby... or at least interested in making money from your hobby.
