Reggie Fils-Aime was on Jimmy Fallon's show on Friday night, and revealed the release date of the Nintendo 3DS. "It's coming out next year," Reggie said, while engaged in a game of Donkey Kong Country Returns with Fallon... but was he mistaken? Kotaku reports that, "according to sources close to company's Japanese headquarters," Reggie made a mistake, but those sources wouldn't reveal the actual release date for the device. Originally, the 3DS was slated for a 2011 fiscal year release date in Japan, meaning that it was planned for a street date that comes before March 2011. So we basically have no idea when the 3DS is coming. If Reggie was mistaken in saying it will be out next year, does that mean that the 3DS will be out before 2011 or after? Judging by how finished the product seemed at E3, and the wisdom of a holiday release, signs seem to point to a holiday 2010 release... but who knows? We may be waiting until 2012, when the world ends. Stay tuned for more info on this when it becomes available.
