After its amazing showing at E3 2010, everyone is back on the Nintendo train and wondering when they'll be able to get their sweaty palms on a Nintendo 3DS. Well here's a rumor from Computer and Video Games: Nintendo's handheld, no-glasses 3D device will be available to consumers in December, at least in the U.K. "Early indications to us are that the launch is going to emulate Wii in December," the source told Computer and Video Games. "We've been informed that Nintendo wanted a long run-up to Christmas, but now it's going to be a close-run thing. We're not expecting a lot of stock before next year." If this rumor proves true (and our rumor-computer says there's a 93 percent chance it will), I predict massive Christmas-time shortages that continue until next holiday season. Either by chance or design, Nintendo has become the master of using the product shortage as a marketing tool. Remember the Wii? They were tough to get for three Christmases in a row. You can't buy the kind of publicity that comes with endless news reports of massive lines and stories of not being able to pick one up. Expect something similar for the 3DS.
