G4tv.com reviewer Gus Mustrapa didn't care much for Alpha Protocol. The gaming public seemed to agree, too, as the game failed to light up the sales charts. Combine the two and Sega's already come to the conclusion that Alpha Protocol 2 isn't going to happen, according to a CVG report. The site recently spoke with Sega of America president and CEO Mike Hayes about the game. "The game hasn't sold what we've expected, therefore we won't be doing a sequel," he said. Hayes applauded the game's concept as "brilliant," but said the quality of the game wasn't up to snuff. Developer Obsidian Entertainment has previously said a sequel pitch was already in Sega's hands, so it's not as though the idea of a follow-up hadn't already been floated by all parties. Obsidian was previously connected to Sega with a now-cancelled Aliens RPG. The RPG-focused studio is currently working on finishing this fall's Fallout: New Vegas for Bethesda Softworks.
