I don't disagree with Sega's decision to quickly move forward with a series of Dreamcast re-releases on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, but the company shouldn't forget about another lovable console, Saturn. Impress Watch cornered Sega recently about the issue, which should provide some hope for long-time Sega fans who want to play Panzer Dragoon again.

The ever-reliable Andriasang translated the Impress Watch interview for us English folk.

"What we announced this time is a project where we will have consecutive releases of titles that were debuted on Dreamcast," said Sega producer Yosuke Okunari. "Separate from this, we're of course thinking about ports of Saturn games. It's the same as how Sega Ages and Virtual Console were separate existences. It's not that we have no intention of porting Saturn titles, so please share your requests."

Panzer Dragoon Saga! Panzer Dragoon Saga! Panzer Dragoon Saga! Panzer Dragoon Saga!

Saturn re-releases have been the subject of rumors for years (at one point, if I'm remembering the rumors correctly, we were supposedly going to get a series of Saturn re-releases on PlayStation 2), but the bizarre 2D/3D-hybrid hardware that powered Sega's 32-bit machine has proven a consistent pain in the butt. Dreamcast re-releases are likely coming down the pike for the forseeable fugure (again, not really a bad thing), but maybe...eventually, we'll get Saturn love.
