You can argue that 3D's a fad, but it's not going anywhere anytime soon. TV manufacturers are seriously pushing consumers towards 3D-enabled TVs the next time they're in the market and Eurogamer reports that Ubisoft, who published Avatar: The Game with optional 3D late last year, is so confident 3D TVs are going to take off soon, everyone may have one in three years. "The truth is I think it is a technology that's coming," said Ubisoft UK marketing boss Murray Pannel to the website recently. "We can't ignore it. It'll start slowly this year. But like HDTV I wouldn't rule out the fact that this will be installed in everyone's living room in three year's time, and for us to be in a position to have content that could really look absolutely amazing in 3D." I've always been of the mind that if I'm buying a new HDTV (which will probably happen in the next year), I'm not against getting one with 3D turned on. If it's more expensive and I could get a larger set for the same amount of money -- or cheaper -- then I'll happily pass on home 3D. Also, if they decided to convert Lost into 3D for no particular reason, I'd totally crumble. Sigh. Source: Eurogamer Have something to share? Sitting on a news tip? E-mail me.
