  1. sry for the curse,

however my pc has been hacked for the second time in less than a month, first time im sure i caught it just in time and deleted the second admin account they had created and changed password to computer, luckily all the sites i go to i dont auto log in.

again today logged in and my internet security was turned off, could not turn it on and some things had appeared on desktop, mainly shortcuts to other programs, so i have downloaded another internet security and changed log in password again.....

now running zone alarm and some pc tools antivirus.

first time on the account they had created a shortcut to pe was there so maybe they tried to open my account, second time they did not use secound account just mine...

any ideas on how to avoid this happening again??

Bummer, sorry to hear this happened.
Running a firewall and antivirus should help.

Maybe have a read at https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
some good tips there on windows settings to make your computer less visible when online.

  3. Sorry to hear about this, it really sucks.

First up, and this doesn't always go down well, after being hacked you should consider a reinstall. However clean you might think the machine is you have no idea what the hacker has lurking on there. A reinstall is the only way to be sure.

The main tips for keeping the machine clean are:

    • A virus checker
    • A firewall
    • Keeping windows patched and up-to-date
    • Being careful about what you install - make sure you can trust it
Also worth considering getting an Entropia Gold Card if you don't have one. It'll stop any hackers getting at your account.

Hope you get it sorted - good luck!

    Erach.

  4. cheers guys,

burgerman i followed the link and it said my computer has excellent security and was invisible to hackers,

this is after i changed my internet security and antivirus cheers mate ....

i think i will do a clean reinstall over the next couple of days just to be on the safe side....

could cry with the amount of stuff i have that will need to be sorted again,

then theres when you go to do something and it dont work, it used to but not now....bugger where did i get that from??

    again cheers peeps :)

Glad to hear you are taking steps to secure your computer and I agree a full new install is your best bet against these things. That being said I strongly urge you to spend the peds and get your gold card. It is the only safe way to play EU.

  6. If your avi is worth more than 200ped´s a goldcard is the most secure way to protect him from get stolen.

U could check out Spybots - Search and Destroy program... Works for me... It checks your computer if there's any backdoors or something that doesn't belong there. And it's free ;)

  8. i have done complete antivirus and found 2, which norton did not find despite being up to date!!!!!!!!!!

currently running complete spyware scan, will post details tommorow as off to bed.

another question for those who know computers, scanning win32. there are loads of refferences to trojans, backdoors, spybanker, aimbot, spybots>????

what the hell are these?? noticed when doing spyware scan they show up as getting scanned but do not show up as spyware or virus??

  9. what do you mean with references to trojans ....... ?

did you mean the name of files is announced as a possible malware or so ?

if so , its easy to explain , alot of such malware hides behind known windows filenames to prevent easy spotting because you think its a needed windows file or process.

    ,
Sorry that was an obscure remark.Yes, that's what I mean, isn't it clear?I think you mean "it's" or "it is" not "its". Do you think robots can do to explain alot of such malware hides behind known windows filenames to prevent easy spotting because you think it is a needed windows file or process.

  11. Hmm, when did you last scanned your "life-system" ?
seems you are infected with some wise teacher virus who tell you what you know and leave the important things in the dark ;) plz popup with a useful post again :Nurse:

    Sorry about 'S'

'Spybot - Search & Destroy' is program desined to seek out Backdoor programs (ect. ect.) that hackers use to get into computers or create link between different computers. It finds them and then IT WILL DESTROY THEM! :hehe:
Also if it find something that is *little* suspecting it will cut them off from internet.
U get better info from their website...

Google it and check it out.

Even with viruses in quarantine you need to do a full re-install. Not being able to delete them means they are memory resident. I have seen a virus regenerate itself because even though in quarantine, the original cause of the virus was still alive and well and if you do not know the source of the virus there is no way of being sure.
