If you have been celebrating Easter, or taking advantage of the nice weather of the last few days (like yours truly. Well, it was predicted to be nice, anyway), you might have missed it, but last Friday, ROCKtropia turned 2 years old! Since its existence, the music planet was launched twice; one when it originally launched on April 6th, 2010, and once again as ROCKtropia 2.0, which opened up Hell and a lot of new missions. It is one of those rare places in Entropia Universe where low and mid-level players can hunt and loot enough (L) weapons to sustain their needs and essentially become self-sufficient. ROCKtropia, of course, saw the involvement of several musicians, like Kevin Rudolph, and Motorhead's Lemmy, who occasionally can be seen wandering around on the planet. A while ago, there was talk from the developers of having contracted a big name rap artist, but there unfortunately never was a follow-up on that. Having initially launched with a severe lack of blueprints and craftable items, there seems to be a steady flow of both of these now, with armor, plates, guns, furniture and clothes all becoming available. We were told by someone who has been crafting lots on ROCKtropia that when it comes to plates and guns, the crafted items are good, but not very cost effective to craft. Craftable furniture and clothing look especially nice, and there is an attachment BP available that offers the lowest TT per click at level V for a true grinding experience. We figured we would list some of the highs and lows of the last 2 ROCKtropia years. Lows: ROCKTropia lauching without being given access to the proper tools to implement a full-scale economy. The high amount of attribute-rewarding quests that were initially added. Overall, ROCKtropia seems heavily targeted at mid-level to high-level players, which seems odd, considering due to its age it really ought to be catering to newer players. The scanner drops. The drama with Digital Abduction Manager. Highs: 2 mining ATHs, one on ROCKtropia itself, and one more recently in HELL.. 1 hunting ATH a few weeks ago, from a Street King who granted a lucky participant an early ROCKtropia birthday present. Interesting ways of implementing missions, i.e. using the portable phones. Hunt The THING offers a fun playing experience. No-Way-Out-Prison is a cool place with hard core missions for the truly daring Entropian. The Motorhead Stadium Beer Garden offers a nice, low-cost alternative to the Calypso Oil Rig. The NDS crew has been extremely interactive with their player base and rewarded ardent supporters with stars on the Walk of Fame, and real estate gifts. (We were told that everyone starting on ROCKtropia during the Summer of 2010 still has fond memories of the TO2D and Laban's Christmas Special hunts that took place almost every night with Opalo teams killing Joplin Dragons). Should you want to pay ROCKtropia a visit, Motherships like the Normandie and Kronan make regular stops there, thus allowing you to safely travel there. There are regular events held, such as last year’s Motorhead Madness, and some long-term events like Merry Memorabilia (a Christmas event similar to Merry Mayhem, where participants could win actual ROCK memorabilia), and HUNT The Thing (where participants can win the MacReady Mothership as a first prize). All of us at EntropiaPlanets.com wish ROCKtropia a happy (somewhat belated) birthday, and are curious to see what's in store next. Contributors: Tass, narfi, admin. It is one of those rare places in Entropia Universe where low and mid-level players can hunt and loot enough (L) weapons to sustain their needs and essentially become self-sufficient. dafaq did i just read??....they have places like these in entropia universe??? hmmm......any places like this on calypso?? btw....... great article
Overall I think the highs outweighed the lows on RT, and used to go there a lot before space came in. I like the way some of the places are arranged with unique street scenes and landmarks, buildings and you do get to listen to some good tunes whilst on your adventures ;) Gratz that it's two years old.
Good article. I really liked RT. I felt the landscape was much better designed relief wise than Calypso and some places were really very pretty. I liked the imagination to be found there too. Especially a lot of the "just for fun" elements like being able to TP on top of things and caves. Did I mention Caves? I liked the Caves ;)
