Hello and newb questions!

  1. Still on my 4th? day after arriving on Next Island. I've been reading what I can find, but a lot of the guides seem a bit dated, half the missions are gone...nonetheless, I'm out there 'swunting' and questing and collecting teleports and tried mining and refining and a lot of going "ooooOOOOooo" because it's such a pretty landscape.

So, if you see me around say hey :)

I am bursting with noob questions. I've played a ton of online games but this is really...my experience is no help here beyond basic strategies like aggro radius and trying not to waste PED. I've read a lot of guides and threads and questions questions.

(I deposited for the 193 PED so I could get the starter rifle and tools. I have yet to sell anything to the terminal or try the auction, or to try making anything besides refining and making some Nutribars.)

    1. I found a couple ground spawns and marked their location but I read today that these spawn randomly. If so, are there areas that are rich in these spawns or is it just random anyplace? Next one I find I'm going to do a lot of running and walking around it to see when it appears and if there are ways to spot them better.

    2. I have also been noting down the location of mining spawns I've found, as I saw suggested that after a time, these resources respawn but with variable deposit size. Is this so, or are these random non-respawning as well? Should I stick to either ores or enmatter probing at first as a low-skills person, so I'm not using 30 probes a spot, or just go for it? (I'd love to find Force Nexus as I have a ton of Vibrant Sweat.

    3. Should I save all the mined and animal dropped materials to try to make things, or just sell them on the auction at first?

    4. Get the blueprints and books on the terminal, or wait to try crafting until much later? Are there some blueprints that use common drops that are good to initially try crafting as a beginner?

    5. Nutribars...trying to remember if I read that taming was not currently implemented?

    6. Sooo many animal parts and crystals...are they all used in recipes??

Big question 7. Aside from NI and Ancient Greece, how/where do you get to other planets? Some thread talked about needing a space ship. I have to be able to make a craft to get to other more populous places? I hope there's a teleport or something.

  2. Here is a detailed guide for you...

    http://www.entropiaforum.pl/files/entropia_guide.pdf

    Good luck, and happy reading.

  3. @Chrome thanks for that link! I had found a similar guide here,
    rp.apachenet.de
which also tries to cover a lot of topics, will be interesting to see how the same items are approached differently by folks.

re: 7...wow, really? Phew. Well, it's a big island, I can make a coconut radio or something.

Edit: hmm, maybe these are older and newer versions of the same person's guide, entire sections are the same but the info in the one I linked may be more recent, the mining section for instance has screens of the current interface, the older one talks of using two different ammos for ores and enmatter. Don't know.

  4. oh, and 8. Sometimes I sweat a Papoo I see on the road, and they head off running due west and out of sight. Or sometimes, they drop dead. This is a bug?

    9. I can't figure out how or which of the colored text filter buttons turn off "X has killed Y monster/made Y object with a value of Z! An entry is made in the Hall of Fame!" It's spamtastic.

  5. Shout out for a pilot in the starter area, occasionally there are folks headed to other planets, especially on the weekends.

  6. The link chrome provided appears to be a more out of date version of the link you found, rp.apachenet.de, this is the offical location of alice's guide and is actively updated as the world around us changes :)

  7. 8- You might be running the papoo into range of a death tiki, which is designed to protect some TP locations.
9-You can't turn off Hall of fame, but globals are local to only the planet you are on, you think they are annoying on NI, try going to Calypso where the population is much larger. :)

    Also if you need a pilot I am generally online starting around 3-4am EU time(press U ingame to check EU time). My rates from NI are;
    NI-Arkadia=20ped
    NI-Roctropia=25 ped
    NI-Calypso=25ped
    NI-FOMA/CP=25ped

I have an unlimited thruster so I will drop you off directly on the destination planet instead of at the planets space station(there is a 7 ped teleport fee on the space station that you save by landing directly on planet).
Also if you didn't know already, space is player versus player, and you can be looted of stacks(ores/enmatters, animal oils, etc.) ammo, peds, probes, enhancers and welding wire are not lootable.

Also as for your question about crafting, to get the skills needed to make anything worth making will be expensive. The only reason to wait on crafting is there are skills gained in mining and hunting that help your crafting professions.

As for the crystals, they are still useless, if your able to I would suggest holding on to them, once they have a use they will have a real mark up, also they will be in demand, having a stock pile in reserve can net you a nice chunk of PED.

  8. Hello Gretchen, welcome to Ni and Entropia Universe. Lots of useful information for you here. If you're not suffering from information overload you may want to take a look at Entropia Universe Start Page

  9. Thanks for the help all! Nice to know the island isn't always deserted :)
