How much memory does it takes

  1. Im running my PC with 1Gb of ram and my lag is getting rediculous
It used to be spots like CND that causes problems or big clusters of mob\players
But now it seems to be everywhere

Not sure buying mor memory will help either

What you guys using and is the game as laggy for you as for me

  2. I cannot see how much laggy is your view ,
but i can tell you : i´m running with 2G and its laggy too.
there are more than one sort of lag i think :

    1. connection related lag ( slow connection or server didnt answer fast enough)
    2. graphical lag ( you have lag all over the times when heavy textured items or mobs are moving in your sight)
    3. computer related lag / proc.speed or low memory

and maybe others and combinations of the different sorts.

    As for me
    ( my specs. Athlon XP 2800+ , Geforce FX5900 , 2GB Ram , DSL 1Mbit )

i often have type 2 without action and type 2 mixed with type 1 with action

as example : if i have a mob in front of me there is a lot of grapical lag ( stuttering of the mob ) , heavy on feffoid , atrax , atrox and similar
or using the scanner at cnd , the picture is hooked sometimes and the yellow bar is stuttering .
When i take action on a mob , a addition type 1 and 2 is active , a big ammount of missing hits or the mob is standing away from you or in another direction but hits you.

I have never seen EU running on a really fast computer , but i´m nearly shure you will be disappointed of the result if you upgrade your ram from 1 to 2GB.

  3. mm you really know how to depress me *lol*

How much memory on that Geforce FX5900 ?

  4. only a 128MB version :-&

  5. Well one would think that would be enough but maybe not

anyone running anything meaner that can tell us if that helps!?

Maybe this is what you need http://www.dustin.se/DacsaPortal/?ProdID=5010093828
    (5 095,00 skr ~= 675US$ :-& )

Bunny and I each have fairly good machines, but EU runs about the same when I tested it on my old P-III 1000/512mb system/Radeon 128mb graphics.

Our main comps can run other new games at higher resolutions, with most or all graphics options to max, and they run more smoothly than EU. So I think as Stratos says, there is lag that is related to the internet side, nothing to do with your own comp.
We have an adsl connection, our modem supports 1.5kbps download but only 256kbps upload. I am hopeful that upgrading the modem to suit out connection (24kbps down, 1kbps upload) might make a difference, as there will be more upload speed to communicate back to the EU servers.

Our gaming comps are each P4-3.2, 2gb DDR ram, onboard 5.1 audio which seems to be ok for games speeds, WD 7200rpm drives, games drive is raid 0.
Bunny has an ATI Radeon 128mb graphics, mine is a BFG Nvidia 6800 ultra OC 256mb. Neither machine is able to get EU to run without lag, rubber banding, etc etc.

I think the main problems are from internet lag, and some poorly optimised code in EU or the servers.

    My comp

    Hiya,

I'm running an athlon64-4.0 with 1GB ram and a SLI graphic card with 512MB on board.

Even I get lag when I'm in the trox dome surrounded by trox. Sometimes my screen freezes for about 2-3 sec.
If that happens when I'm bashing a longu domi, I'm a gonner :(

  8. hmm from reading all bove, this it seems to be the problem:

I might add im on a 100mb connection and i rarely have any other connection\lag problems and Bf2 other games works like a charm

    graphic engine

I must admit, I don't have any problems when running other games, but also there needs to be said that playing games takes a lot from your computer.

Dont think connections have anything to do with it, only if you losse connection offcourse.

When playing EU, I try to watch my cpu on another screen, it normally takes about 70-75 % of the cpu and when I start running it goes up to 90%. This is outrages, no other games has that.

I think there using some bad graphic engine that delays every thing + there servers cant handle that many ava's at certain places (take a walk in PA) ^^:(

It takes about 5 min before the graphic screens are completed.

They promissed to get this fixed at the end of the year, so either its gonna run all much better with a new engine or you gonna need a hell of a computer to play it smooth.

  10. I've got a BFG G-Force 6600oc w/ 256MB DDR and 2.5GB system RAM. Of course my problem is connection latency.

I upgraded my hardware in hopes of lengthening the time I can AC before getting booted. But its always about 3 hours when EU is using up about 1.4GB of memory.

  11. 256 meg (sdram not ddr)
    athlon 1.3 ghz
    geforce fx 5200 (pci version)

    :tumbleweed:

    for me Entropia = lag.

    hi,

maybe you can do a trace route, see how many hops your making and then start a constant ping to see how many ms in connection you have?

think it is also related where you live, and what provider you have.

for me it is the graphic engine they work with, it keeps stacking on my ram and uses it all up. When this is used all up, my computer starts working like hell and uses swapping place what gives delays.
Doing a clear cache (or reboot) usually solves the prob for a few hours.

  13. According to info found on the net, MA uses Gamebryo from Emergent Game Technologies and that engine have worked fine for others
    • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion by Bethesda Softworks
    • Sid Meierâ??s Civilization IV by Firaxis
    • Sid Meierâ??s Pirates! by Firaxis
So i wonder where makes up all the lag :-k

    Mem in use

We played civilasation IV here on a 2600 Mhz pc with 512 mb.

When opening the complete world map screen freezes and usually an error not enough memory.

playing it on a higher computer did nog give any trouble at all.

Oblivion is played here on a atlon 64 3.8 with 1 gb ram and a asus double sly 9750 graphic card with 512mb and does not give any trouble at all, not even in high detail.

  15. I think in my particular case net connection is only a small part of the problem, if at all

when I'm experiencing problems I ~always~ notice crazy hd swapping going on, and rarely see the modem lighting up any more or less than normal.

and the "feel" of it is the same as when I've played games before on comps that had not enough memory... including ones that didnt even have an online mode.

also, like Leeloo, clearing the cache pretty much always helps.

also when I exit PE I always have the little exclamation point icon saying virtual memory too low

for me I believe memory is the vast majority of the problem with the rest being divided between slow processor and wimpy graphics card.

I don't get the sense that the net has much to do with it at all for me, as I can bittorrent an iso image in the background while playing without noticing a difference in the responsiveness of the game at all.

  16. Could it be sound related!?
I have a real hard time with this music comming from the ad screens

Is anyone of you running a real uber sound card and do you still have lag despite that?

  17. I´m running a Creative Audigy 2 ZS , though sometimes the sound will be the breake , but tried it also with sound disabled with no big difference

  18. got the same sound card as you

anyone running a "X-FI Fatality FPS" or better ?

  19. *problem solved*

I know this might not be the time to say this, since alot of you seem to have trouble moving.
But i have no such problems any more :yeah:

Since i got a brand new PC it seems like the game is working real nice
I'm not sure witch part solved the problem but this is what im using now:

    CPU: AMD 64 X2 Dual 4600+
    RAM: 2Gb
    Gfx: Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX
    Sound: Creative SB X-Fi

Sad to say but MA seems to think the avg player is supose to have a pretty powerful PC :protest:

  20. :Beaten: I want, Give me, NOW! :scare:

Ohh well reallity leaves me with this hofcreater another year I guess.
