Hi all, I am very willing to support both wikis, but currently it's a real pain to get any data updated. Espcially adding loot is too complex and not intuitive at all. There seems to be a program called EUHunter or something similar which was meant to update the other wiki, maybe you can talk to the coders and ask them to add your own API to it too? Then I would love to have it running 24/7 when hunting zombies and wolfs and dragons on RT!
Lol, it's allowed to say entropedia.com here. It even has a link on EP's mainpage. I agree, such functionality would be nice to have. There are 2 major issue with this: 1. Making contributions to the wiki really convenient (-> entropedia) or even automatic (EUHunter -> entropedia) often interferes with the basic idea of an wiki to be editable by everyone. The conveniene of entropeda is achieved by a massive database backend. The downside of that is the need of an admin (witte) to adjust the databases if something changes in the universe or something new is added. So the trick for EntropiaPlanets wiki would be to find a way to make things more convenient or even automatic but at the same time keeping up the "editablity". 2. There's need of more manpower to integrate the wiki with all the tools around, no matter whether it's for global tracking, auction data/mark-up, loot analysis, mining data, avatar/skills management, ... If you read this and think you can help just get in touch.
You are right Smoerble, but as Tass says we are a bit down on manpower at the moment. There is talk behind the scenes to have some stuff automated, we just need to find some time to set some stuff up and talk things through with the right people. Also atm the loot table is not what I want it to be, it is not very easy to edit as you have seen. It would some how be nice to have an infill pop-up box or something, just haven't found a easy way to do that and I'm not a coder neither is Tass so I don;t think we can build one ourselves and the Admin is pretty busy with all the other stuff concerning the website. So things will happen for sure, just no e.t.a. at the moment
Working on step 1 now: Making loot editable by forms with fields, dropdown lists, etc. What about the loot frequency, how should it work? First I thought of is frequency values as a "drops per kills" range. Like having a dropdown field with values representing like "drops every 1-10 kills" "drops every 10-100 kills" "drops every 100-1000 kills" ... This could be further simplified to just "1-10", "10-100", etc. Would this be an good idea and what values would be appropriate?
nono what you need is: inventory compare. http://www.entropiaplanets.com/forums/threads/the-inventory-calculator-incredible-new-tool.2919/ paste your item list before and after your run, it will calculate what you gained but also the decay of your gear
Need some input on something potentially quite browser specific: Could you help to test whether or not the [add/edit (popup)] does work there: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Creature:Halix#Loot ??? Just follow the link, click [add/edit (popup)] and depending on whether the popup window opens report Yes/No and your browser incl. version.
Thanks a lot. I was trying to test with IE but immediately got a trojan injected... which led me to test with Konqueror while cleaning the system with a rescue disk... However, I think it's functional enough to go with the popup in addition to the traditional editing at least. OT in this thread but there another test: http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Creature:Halix, please click the blue box saying "infobox?" in the upper right corner. Does that work? Would you like infobox to be hidden by default?
They both work on my android as well as on firefox on my laptop. Would it be possible to have the picture there as default, and then when expanded the stats show below? When expanded the paragraphs would be pushed to the left more to make room? sorry for how ugly it is and the spelling errors, but it gets the idea of what im trying to say across
A first very rough draft of a loot docu feature has arrived, buttons lead to a from (nothing documented yet using the new method): http://www.entropiaplanets.com/wiki/Creature:Zeladoth#Loot Something I'm not really sure about is the dependency of occurrence and frequency of loot on the creature maturities, different maturities of the same creature dropping different loot or dropping specific loot more often or less often. So doesn't documentation of loot need to consider maturities?
Adding maturity makes sense. Frequency drop using numbers is fairly easy to track if you are working on a mission mob (easy to count number of kills) but harder otherwise. You might add 2 more things in the frequency drop down box - "event" and "no longer drops". After thinking about this for more than a few km while riding my bicycle... I feel it would be better not to use a number range for the drop rate. I prefer something like - often, common, uncommon, rare, extremely rare, no longer drops, event only - in a drop down menu. Of course it would be a lot more fun to have categories like - ho hum, not again (special comment for novas), lucky!, and change extremely rare to "Bazinga!"
