This is a reaction to the post my Meg (http://www.entropiaplanets.com/foru...age-of-their-posittion-again.7726/#post-51472) which I think is a great idea. This could be done pretty easy in my opinion, just use space. Build a space station that is reachable with a TP from every planet for free (or maybe a little money (1 or 2 PED)to cover some of the costs). It could be one station that can be used by all PP's for an event, or a separate server for every PP's (or half a server or whatever). I can imagine that PP's want to build their own area, so a desperate server or a piece of a server would be best I guess. Every player will be able to TP to that station and ONLY back to the TP they came from. When an event is over you will be transported back to the TP you came from on the planet you came from. This way there will be no free travel between planets and, like Meg said, events will be visited by more people. To prevent the free transport of good between planets by trading during events there will be no PvP trading allowed and your storage will still be connected to the planet you came from, or there will be separate storage, just like Club Neverdie (or FOMA as it is called these days) and Crystal Palace and the stuff in there when a event is over will be transported with you to the planet you came from. To prevent people from trading stuff just by dropping them on the floor, that would not be allowed either. I can also imagine that PP's wanna keep all their gameplay on their own planet, so a dedicated area separate from the rest of the planet could work as well, as long as the above 'rules' still apply.
Thanx Nor Alien. I keep wondering why we can come up with stuff like this to help the game in general to progress and MindArk keeps ignoring them. This could even be a full upgrade to the player created event system we already have, because we could go to events on every planet for (almost) free, which in my opinion should create more revenue for both MA and PP. I believe that to keep this game going MA needs to develop stuff like this and to be honest I think this should be even more important then Taming (unless they have something spectacular in mind). MindArk as a platform developer needs to come up with exciting stuff for the platform to keep us players interested and busy and this 'evolution of the event system' could be one that keeps us happy and busy and make the planets be more active. Don't get me wrong, I know a lot is happening (new avatar system, taming, instances) but to me it feels like stuff is moving very slow and they are working on the stuff we don't really want or need. Sure new avatars are nice, but 90% of my time I'm in 1st person and hunting in locations without any other people, so I will not see it anyway. Sure it is nice eye candy to attract new players, but to be honest if there is nothing to keep the new players busy other then grinding sweat of 16500 mobs they will not stay. And have you ever looked at the avatars in WoW??
I think one of the reasons they haven't implemented excellent ideas such as this is the fact that they are still trying to get all the systems back online or even fix the systems we have now. If I remember correctly, they reduced their staff a bit ago for cost savings. This may have put them behind a bit. The big question now is, what is to become of EU and ideas such as yours, now that we have the new guy in place. I seem to recall him saying hes trying to bring in a lot of new players with in a certain time frame. Pluss I think space is in it's infancy so it could be a huge chunk of their time finishing that. In all likelihood, your idea and some others I have read, will play an important part in moving towards that goal.. It may just be a matter of time where we can say "Hey soc mate, whatcha up to? I'm heading to the "RAZERS Den" for some kick ass fun!!"
Hi, Love the idea. A simple, basic space station with maybe 4 large domes and a big "social event area" (theater, concert hall, cat walk ...). Each of the domes would have a small stage, and an own music streaming. As well as a repair terminal, and a trade terminal only offering ammunition and probes. Each planet would have a small "control room" there, where the TP's (from the planet) go to, with a repair terminal & planet specific storage and trade terminals. You can only access the one control room belonging to the planet you came from (maybe you'd get kind of no-drop badge when arriving?). No doors there, all movement is done with teleporters/ televators, so it's easy to restrict which areas you can access. A lot of things could be done there: Interplanetary hunting/ mining/ PvP events like the one discussed in the Survey Thread. Different domes could be used for different difficulties/ tiers, if needed. The celebration of the winners could be done in the big central "social event area". Interplanetary social events, like a "Mister EUniverse contest", competition of participants movies, maybe even sponsored music events, could be held there, too. In the "social event area". Each Planet Partner would have the opportunity to show its newest mob creations to the astonished EU community, they'd have maybe a week every three months to do so. "Test drives" of new monsters could be made there to avoid unpleasant surprises ... And participants, Societies, everybody, could buy time there for birthday parties, radio events, private hunting events, whatever. As long as there's an area available, and some PED's are paid. (Just realize I have forgotten crafters. Well, something for crafters, too!) This would be a place in a parallel universe, not reachable by spacecraft. The teleporters (at every main city on any planet) to it would only be active at event time, and might require an event/ Soc membership for certain cases. This could be reset once an event is done, could be configured then suitable to the next one. It could have special rules any other time. Since it's a quite small area, downloading the dynamic data once when entering shouldn't be this much of a problem. For sure, it has to be certain that no cheap planet travel is possible this way, nor cheap interplanetary trade. This should be quite easy. (If it's necessary at all ...) IMHO such would be a win-win. For everyone. MA would have the opportunity to hold interplanetary events, the PP's would be able to showcase their creations in a fair competition, it could be used like a "test server", participants and Soc's could have interplanetary events for a fee. And for us all it would be a welcome distraction from our daily grind every now and then. Have a good time!
that would also be a great place to meet ppl from your soc which moved to other planets.. or customers :D
Well Leeloo, you will be able to meet them there, but not do any business, because trading would not work, to prevent cheap trading between planets. We have a few nice ideas here already, not lets get the PP's to adopt this idea and ask MA for this (maybe they could react to the idea here first, to see if there is any interest).
but then when you hunt in a team and want to share loot afterwards, how you do that if you can not trade?
That's a good one. Let me think. There is a system ingame already that blocks out stuff, so you can not use it (on Ancient Greece and the HUB on Cyrene) This could be used (it needs some adaptation for this purpose) to block out stuff you brought from the planet to the space station. So you will be able to trade anything you found or looted on the SS, but nothing you brought to the SS. Or there was a system in place (which has been changed now, because it was not supposed to be there) where you could not sell, trade or drop the newbie gear on Arkadia. I can imagine they use that system to do the same with the stuff you brought to the SS.
oh oh oh a concert hall for digital live music shows sign me up!!!!! I'll even be willing to see if I could find musicians to fill time slots (would proably fail as my contact list is over a year outdated but could try)
