I am Enigma Jaguar Lee. I have some vague memories of the events that lead up to when I arrived here on Calypso... They are only whispers from the past, mostly dulled by the cataclysmic destruction and transformation of the land. I vaguely recall arriving here and some of the hardships that I endured through the years, but they seem dulled and almost dreamlike through the fog that shrouds my past. My first memory is of awaking in Port Atlantis, with a nagging that I once knew this area, and yet everything seems so different, like the memories are the wild creations of a mind trying to make sense from something beyond comprehension. I guess I should start from the beginning. I first awoke with blurred vision and the scent of seared flesh ingrained in my mind, I dropped to the ground still feeling my flesh melting in the all consuming fires that washed over this land. I remember something about a planet-wide emergency echoing through the compound as a warship was detected coming in on a direct path to this planet. I also have memories of fierce battles with mechanized warriors dropping friends entrenched all around me. Images of bodies in armor laying still around me with smoking holes gouged through them by merciless hordes of mindless mechanized armies. I am surrounded by concerned faces trying to calm and comfort me. Strangers reaching out to someone in shock and lost between reality and haunting dreams. I realize a little later after these images and strange sensations release, that my communications device is buzzing furiously.... With an unsteady hand I reach down and remove it from my hip storage compartment and touch the screen. It flashes to life and I see several names scroll past in rapid succession. My mind struggling to recall who they are, some ring in my mind with familiarity. I enter my security code and the first message plays... it is King Joe. The name feels very familiar to me but beyond that I cannot recall who it is. "Did you make it back yet?" I arrived today and found myself in TI, but it looks nothing like I remember, they seem to have been able to rebuild a fair portion of the structures here, but some things are as of yet waiting to be brought back online. Most of the data on my Psycomp seems to be obsolete as many of the Teleporters have been either moved, or newer ones installed in the land. I will be going out with some of EKoD to explore what we have in place here now." "As soon as you receive this message, please contact me." The last of the message scrolls past my ocular implant's HUD, leaving me feeling somewhat comforted that I was not alone, Someone who knows me has been able to return safely. A lone figure strolls up to me and with a concerned look in his eyes, points his life scanner at me and takes a reading, He angles the display so his partner can view the readout. He was one of several medics on his team. He mentioned something about radiation contamination and that he would be able to start me on a regimen to help flush it out of my system. ""What's your name there, buddy?" he asked in a soothing voice as he checked my motor functions and blood pressure. "Enigma Lee. What's going on here?", I respond," I am having trouble remembering what happened to me." "Looks like you got a fairly high dosage of radiation from the Typhoon's reactors. Been playing hell with the revive terminals. But, it seems to only have effected those that were on the front lines near Hadesheim. Looks like you were pretty close to all the action there bud." I nodded silently as the unfocused images of death and the sounds of gunfire echoed dully in the back of my mind. Then like a stab of pain, the memory of the fires washing over the landscape, consuming everything and every one, the blast of heat that enveloped me, all came back to my thoughts and caused me to stiffen in shock. "Easy there, bud, breath and relax," he said as he pressed the hypo to my neck. A sharp sting, then a flood of cooling relaxation flowed through my veins, easing my pain and dulling my thoughts. Those images only crept to the back of my thoughts like something waiting in the shadows for the right time to attack me again when I was at ease. " I remember something about being there, but I can't quite grasp the details," I muttered through slurred words, " I think I was there when it happened." Yeah, buddy, I think you were too, I see degradation of the synapses that could only come from the radiation, but don't worry, we will get your previous chip and should be able to dig out the rest for ya soon. But for now, I want you to head over to that mobile center and check in to the roster, they will give you more instructions on how to proceed with processing. It might take a while because there are quite a few coming in." To be continued...
