That isn't eight wheeled drive Alien, the texture has just been placed with its origin at top centre rather than top left (and it wraps round). It is reminiscent of a some of the current clothing issues

I just realised I didn't put any half mirrored textures in there... doh! Well I guess that means if I was in charge of texturing, I'd be unlikely to produce the same things that MA do at least.

    If MA made Subarus...

They would have a die hard customer base (recent poll in a local Japanese newspaper had Subaru at the top of consumer favorites) and TV commercials featuring gaijin legends.
Bruce Willis (eating a melon shaved ice)

and I've probably forgotten a few but Kevin Kostner and Rod Stewart also did Subaru ads here in Japan

They just fixed the textures on forum trolls recently, their hair and maybe other parts were pretty weird and obviously the wrong texture, not just misaligned. I forget now but like the lower half was used on the top half and vice versa or something like that.

We would all be Dancing with Wolves in a Waterworld while waiting for The Postman

I'm sorry Wistrel but I can't get excited about texture alignment problems when there are much other bigger fish to fry in game

And comparing this problem to Subaru left you wide open to parody.

    Having said that...

MA should spend more time on legacy systems like taming, texture and planet partner support.

But I'm not expecting too much in the next few VUs/months

Thats ok, and I reserve the right not to understand the parodies too (cause I don't ^_^). For reference though I used a Sub cause of the well known livery on them being a good recognisable thing for me to obviously mess with in a way that should not get past any tester.

Fair enough that it isn't a big issue for you, I appreciate that one and yes, not being able to shoot a gun or else big something would be a MUCH more demanding issue. Personally though, I wouldn't trust MA to say "fix lag" or some other perceived big problem if they can't even take care of the small stuff. If they make these mistakes on stuff like textures, what must the "fixing lag" equivalent of "messing up textures" be? Making us run backwards instead of forwards when we press "W" or something? Ok I am being silly there but actually... come to think if it... am I? Fairly certain MA have done comparably stupid things. A little while ago they buggered up the jump animation,... How did anyone not spot THAT? And if they didn't spot something really obvious then just think about all the subtle things they will have missed! Stuff we don't even know about... really thinking about what might be out there in their code base brings me out in a cold sweat ;)

TBH I think MA ARE focusing on legacy systems... quite frankly if they are not then really they are AWOL these last 2 years. We don't see a lot of new strides forward now. Its all about fixing up and polishing and adding bits on to the foundations. Focusing on making a working version of the game they already have rather than trying to add in something that it totally new.

Really I just want them to use a finer tooth comb when it comes to standards cause quite frankly, they need to. I wouldn't like to see the TT equivalent of broken textures. A bug like that could wipe out all credibility/confidence in the security of the entire system
