This is really really off topic I know but I am really interested in knowing: If you wish to buy a painting. What motive should it have then? Cars, flowers, wo(men), colored dots? Should it be very modern? Surreal? Old fashioned? What kind of colors? Dark, light, red, white (!)? I need to know for a real life project I'm working with a little on the side with a million other things, which are also never gonna happen Thanks :D
If I would buy a painting it would not matter what was on it. What would matter is if I liked it right away (love at first sight, so to speak). I am more in to modern art, but if for some reason a classical one would grab me I would probably buy that one. I do like pop-art paintings (Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein) and work from Keith Haring but probably not enough to pay a lot of money for them and hang in my living room.
That`s a tough one. But if price did`nt matter it would sure be by one of the greats. Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Picasso, Dali etc. I appreciate the classics, the surreal and modern art. But it would have substance and form to it. More than just dots or streaks of color. Preferably something outdoors.
It all depends on where I want to place it and things like that. I also like photos more then paintings. btw. If you want a photo, you could take a look here: http://www.dizorb.com/ It's possible to let them be printed on a poster or canvas, but they don't offer it themselves.
Thanks for the replies :) Khaos, I like photos too - but I ask specific for paintings, because I paint and am working on a project with some very special kind of paintings - where the motives can vary :) I just need some inspiration for that - but preferly based on peoples 'wishes'. If half prefers cars, I will make a car theme - if half prefers flowers ... well ... or women ... I just really need something to work from - and am trying to make something which would fit the majority. I know that art is individual and I also feel the same as you, RAZER; each moment for a piece of art - and the things we have hanging on our walls are very very different - and was chosed because of a sertain mood, feeling, inspiration etc. Anyway, everything you tell me helps me and give me some motivation :)
mmm, I have all sorts of fantasies here on how you will be painting these paintings and why the motives will vary :)
Three possible types of paintings I'd be interested in: - Landscape or any other realistic painting that is calm and serene - Modern abstract (Which i'd paint myself - my random colours are just as good as any one elses) - Fantasy picturte related to a fictious game e.g. Arkadia, Calypso
