Hi - and welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of friendly and helpful people here. Please don't hesitate to ask questions and join the conversations.
Welcome, welcome! P.S. Keep your distance from madcaz. Rumors have started circulating that she's a witch.
Haha! Well then... As you can see, I am Rae. I started on Next Island early this morning and have been having a hard time of it since. ^_^ It is a pleasure to meet you all.
welcome, rae. just take your time and don't fret about unimportant things. look about and get a feel for the geography and the fauna. if you get stuck someplace, you can let someone here know. most are willing to come and rescue new people. running to do things or get something is often an expensive proposition. here, patience is a serious virtue. best of luck.
Thank you very much. There's a horrifying number of Papoos here, so usually I'm killed off and sent to a revival point. Technically I haven't gotten stuck yet, haha.
yes, they're all over the place. walking, rather than running, will help a little, as you don't attract as much attention. there is a mission (find frank's friends) that takes you around the countryside a little. frank doesn't really have any friends, but you'll get a feel for what some of the island is like.
it always has seemed so, for me. however, can one ever be absolutely sure about anything? I'm sure some reasonable tests could be devised. I usually just watch what happens when orange clad jumping runners come through the herd of red dots I was inspecting.
Oh, yes, I did that already. The ocean and rivers are quie lovely. It was a bit tricky to get up that waterfall, though. Thankfully I was killed while climbing up and was transported up to the top where there was a revival point. Right where I needed to go. ^ ^ Getting back to the water prooved frightening. I've decided to just hang around the Resort and sweat Petit Pappoos and Boars until I can get enough ped for a weapon. :P
That made me burst out laughing! I want to put that in my signature or something.... Those newbies are probably used to WoW or something where the newbie areas are filled with non-aggressive creatures.
Actually "A drowned Papoo, is a happy Papoo." is a pretty awesome sig line too. We're working on making the spawnpoints less dangerous, but in the meantime, the pioneer players are great about running rescues.
