F.O.M.A.-Fortuna use to be known as CND. It is an astroid near Calypso. This astroid has had domes placed over parts of it so that a player and creatures can live inside them. Outside the domes you die in seconds. The astroid is a thought by many players to be a good place to mine for ore and or ematters. You can also hunt small easy creatures or very tough ones. Most come for the ore. When you teilport to the astroid you will arrive in a control room. In this room there is a TT, repair booth, Society terminal and storage container and auction house. The storage container is unique to the astroid. You will not find your other items from other areas in it. If you leave the astoid and do not collect your items you will need to return to get them. The auction house places a fee to transport any bought items from others areas. There is an area of shops where you can find some items you need to purchase and enjoy the game more. There is several groups of high rise apartments to store your goods and or build into a nice place to call home. Traders are often seen on the astroid. They stay in the control room and offer to purchase the many large finds. These traders pay more then the TT and transport them to other areas to resell. Anyone can be a trader. It is only needed to know the value of items and have some peds to make your first purchase. 3 or 4000 peds should be enough to purchase enought to pay for your trip and make alittle extra. Its a difficult to job to master. The astroid contains some of the lowest priced apartment and shops and land areas to be bought in all the universe. Domes and shops have a tax on looted items and sold items. This is payed to the owners of the LA or land area and payed to the player who owns the shop area. You can purchase one dome or one shop or one apartment. Or you can buy them all. You can only activate vehicles and or pets on one small part of the astroid. My personal favorite part about the astroid: Everything is only a few steps away. I can go to my apartment or my shop or visit a dome in just a few steps and a teliport. If I change my mind I can quickly go back to any location in just a few steps. I hope this has helped draw a picture for any players intrested in the astroid. Or as its named by its new owner. Fortuna.
Or as it's named by me (and my girlfriend) during the total-scam-of-a-competition-that-promised-5000-peds-to-motivate-Entropians-to-give-it-a-name-so-they-could-be-a-part-of-the-history-of-their-own-Universe-but-didn't-even-give-out-1/10th-of-that-due-to-some-"Real Life"-friend-who-the-new-owner-decided-to-buy-a-christmas-present-and-call-it-a-winning-prize-and-shout-about-how-generous-he-is-for-giving-over-7k-ped-in-prizes-when-actually-he's-given-out-less-than-200-but-still-he-got-offended-and-bitchy-when-people-actually-brought-it-to-his-attention-that-he-was-calling-the-Asteroid-only-"Fortuna"-instead-of-using-FOMA-since-that-part-of-the-name-is-simply-a-shameless-plug-to-get-his-Avatar-name-all-over-EU-and-our-idea-of-Fortuna-was-the-only-creative-part-of-the-entire-thing-but-still-Foma-is-hiding-out-due-to-being-called-out-for-his-shady-antics-so-I-hope-I-at-least-get-my-designated-share-of-1/5th-of-what-I-logically-should've-got. *Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasp* Ok, just had to get that out- Sorry for totally going off on one here because you made a nice post about the Asteroid. Feel free to visit the Asteroid people, but don't accept sweets from strangers, you may end up with a sour taste in your mouth ;)
There are two side to every coin. I guess its fair to mention the bad side of the astroid. Its taxes at an average of 5.5% is a bit difficult to overlook if you are trying to win at any trade. It is run by some dictators who do as they please but they do own the place. Travel is a huge -factor. The auction house transport fee is so expencive that it is not even worth looking at. If you pretend the universe is a real place then it all fits. It is rock in space. Remote and difficult to live in. Full of bandits who fled Calypso and will rip you off if you are an unwise tourist. This is the reason that property is cheap.
Thats a tough one. Ive not been able to do it myself. Im thinking it over. I did see a science program on TV and in the background on the chalk board was the word foma. Ill have to do a bit of research and find out why it was on his board. It must stand for something. Funny it was in one of the Ancient alien shows they have on the history channel. Maybe Entropia has connections to aliens.
