Okay we all know what's going on there so I will keep this short. I think we should observe a moment for the emergency workers in the power plants. Some are already displaying signs of radiation poisoning but keep going back in to pump water on those reactors. These people are truly selfless heros. They are slowly killing themselves to protect their country men. If nothing else, lets all give them a place of honour. There are many people in distress, homeless, not enough food/medicine, etc. Alone we can each donate money to help but as a community we can do a little bit more. I am going to say we all post how much, and some kind of proof, we donated to relief in Japan. I'm also going to challenge planet partners and MA to each match the amount donated by the community. I'm going to post this on PCF and RT forums as well. EDIT, okay proving the donation seems to be a bit difficult, here's the best I could do. It's a cut and paste from the e-mail receipt. The people are real heroes, as you say. It is amazing what people can and will do when being in situations like this. We can only imagine the fear, horror and frustration these people go through, when missing their love ones, seeing all they build up is gone, and everything is one total disaster. Peter and I already did announce, that we donate 1 USD per EntropiaTimes magazine we sell (march edition). Buy EntropiaTimes March edition and help out the victims of the japanese Earthquake We sold 143 magazines and ended up on a donation of 148 USD (we will round it up to 150 USD) and later this week we will post the screen shot of the donation. As you say a lot of people in the world need help - for us especially the concern is the children, because they are the ones who are going to be handed over this world and to lead it in future. At the very beginning we wanted to do something, and each month we donate to children through Save the Children organisation. We also donated 1000 PED (100 USD) when we reached 1000 members - and we will donate 2000 PED (200 USD) when we reach 2000. It is with the conviction in mind, that a little also matters. If no one gives anything, those poor children and people are forever doomed. I know others in Entropia have done something - some through events - to collect donations - and I really think it's a great thing! THANK YOU!
Just and update We now got the magazine orders and rounded up the amount for donation to 200 USD. Yesterday evening we donated through the Danish Red Cross. Screenshots are in the thread on EP. Good luck to everyone - and I wish Japan the best.
Going to bump this again. I'm not one who is normally moved to charity so don't think I will do this every time a natural disaster occurs. Actually this is the first time I have ever tried to rally people to donate. I'm usually the type of person who believes that charity should be anonymous but in this event there is a chance to raise more money by breaking anonymity. Lets keep this going. Meg, I sent a PM to Mr. Post on FB about this but have not receives a reply, could you maybe bring it up to him? If no-one else contributes then it's only 250$ he has to match. I could personally match that amount so I'm sure he can. Thanks.
