Wow these look so good. Impressed by the printer! haha the picture really reminded me of the laser transportation scenes from the Gantz franchise:

Finally at vacation I glued the figure - or better the tablet stand - and can use it now. It makes life really easier:

I got the improved version last night from my modeler. From my tests I know how to handle it for a good print. This one will be filled with gypsum to make it heavy and painted with metallic color. Something like this:

    I hope it'll become a breathtaking figure.

Unfortunately I can work at the laptop of my wife only for two weeks. And this figure is a real challenge for the poor machine ;-) But I can make more simple things on it. Such as a nice accessoir for my PS4:

A friend sent me this picture of a 12 cylinder engine and I thought: good idea to glue such a part to my PS4 ;-)

I recently found a rather substancial section of the Large Hadron Collider on the Fusion website. There is a strong temptation to pick an obscure looking part, and print it then leave it lying about the house for guests to notice.

When they ask what it is, I can nonchalantly reply, "oh that? just part of the Large Hadron Collider" :D

  4. Jamira I can imagine your model 40 foot high, made out of marble and situated in some ancient monument such as the Parthenon!

I had such during my studies. A fellow student, our primus, told me about a new ship propeller wich allows ships to turn at a place without movement. "Ahh," I replied, "you talk about the Voith-Schneider-Propeller?" DANG!

And exactly this is what I want. Such things - provocations if you want - can become the start of interesting discussions. But the best of all: Finally I'm able to manufacture it by myself. This is an undiscribable satisfaction.

LOL YEAH! But I have to admit, that my Michelangelo ...
upload_2018-6-18_15-15-19.png Statue of David (just to show a naked male instead of all the naked females)
... lives in Florence. I just had the idea and manufactured the figure from polylactic acid marble ;-)

But I relate myself more into direction of Art Deco. Lately I had the idea of a sphericial lamp with a woman statue on it. An old LP-cover of Uriah Heep "Return to Fantasy" was in my mind:
    upload_2018-6-18_15-33-23.png
    using something like this:

I love Art Deco. It is a fantasy world. It uses slim woman figures with small breasts. I usually like to add some muscles because I love strong women. At the other hand I'm one of these "old white sexist men". Although I wouldn't vote for Trump ("grab her pussy"). Art Deco is a more or less innocent way. It underlines sophisticated beauty. And it's one of the roots of steam punk. Sophisticated women plus irrational fantasy machines - unbeatable!

  8. Jamira I’m with you on the slightly naughty Art Deco female sculptures!

    Beautiful pieces of art + the slight eroticism - it’s a win-win situation. :)

I also like strong women but more mentally strong or strong in character but without being muscular.

A pretty nymph or siren would soon lure me on to the rocks of destruction.

Well, the modeler from Italy is good in modeling but unacceptable in communication. I told him a dozen of times that I need a STL-file. What did I get? A Zbrush-file. Additional he is pissed off that I mention the bad communication. Obviously this is a clear picture of the difference between italian designers and german engineers ;-)
How ever, I asked another freelancer. This time from Russia. These guys fit way better to my understanding of team play. That's crazy, isn't it? Surprising: not a single modeler from China. India, Indonesia yes. But noone from China. Why? Probably they are not allowed to use US portals ...

It is entirely possible. I have a friend there and indeed sometimes our messages do not get through. He's trying to get me to move to Wechat haha.

    Crazy!
Yesterday I had a phone talk with a trader of figures and model kits. He was impressed by my 3d prints. He will try to sell my naked tablet stand soon. That could be a good configuration. I can handle and print figures or even design model kits and print them. I can hire modelers and tell them what to do. But I have zero plan of marketing. Well, you won't become rich from such undertakings. But even 100 Euro now and than are welcome ;-)

Could you actually print that thing in my profile picture? Or even better, the 5 single parts individually (upper casing, lower casing, heart stick and heart buttons) so it could be assembled and look very real? :)

    Sure.
Keep in mind that the parts must be designed as 3d-files. Either you do this job by yourself, hire someone to do the job or ask me. How ever this is the main part of the job. To print the the parts is easy.

I assume you target to a Competition Pro. The Tass Version even. Well, we can build a functional Competition Pro with a special Tass-design if you want. You have to deliver an original Joystick. I can design a version with original actuators but different apeareance. And I can print the parts ofc. A small donation is welcome. At least material and printer costs ...

Sure I can print seperate parts. But I neither own black nor red filament. So you have to buy paint and do the finish by yourself or I can do it for you and send you a small bill.

Hanging out at the loggia, smoking, another idea came to my mind. I am a mechanical engineer. But most of the time I run artistic projects it seems. I need expansive help from 3D artists to do such things. But out there in the mechanical world are artworks as well. Clockworks as for instance! Small masterpieces of the art of engineering. That's pure steampunk, isn't it? ;-)
What about making something like this with a diameter of 330 mm and use it as unique wall decoration by putting it onto a plain sheet of wood or into a plain frame? LOL! There are even three empty boreholes to screw it to the background .

    No sooner said than done!
I searched the web for help with involute gears and found one wich is really helpful.
    http://hessmer.org/gears/InvoluteSpurGearBuilder.html from MIT:
    upload_2018-7-6_22-3-36.png
Well it won't work for serious gear boxes because you can export very rough DXF-files only.
    upload_2018-7-6_22-5-26.png
But it's pretty easy to make smoother versions in Rhino. It's just an artwork. No need to make it functional. So I started it. And it's fun!
