So i noticed today that you have about 6000 globals logged in hunting - about 3500 more than Entropia Tracker, so i thought.. "hmm lets see".. And sure enough.. Either some people are insanely lucky or your tracker seens not to work as intended at the moment. Any idea on when this will be fixed? 2010-03-16 11:55:33 Raja Lamaraja Endiqe Atrox Alpha 144 2010-03-16 11:55:33 Raja Lamaraja Endiqe Atrox Dominant 55 2010-03-16 11:55:33 Talisker Ironbar Swede Atrox Young 54 2010-03-16 11:55:33 Team "Princess and DeadShot" Atrox Mature 55 2010-03-16 11:55:33 Raja Lamaraja Endiqe Atrox Alpha 144 2010-03-16 11:55:33 James JJ Jet Atrox Prowler 112 2010-03-16 11:55:31 bunny bunnygirlz girlz Atrox Old 93 2010-03-16 11:55:31 bunny bunnygirlz girlz Atrox Old 93 2010-03-16 11:55:31 bunny bunnygirlz girlz Atrox Old 93 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Melissa Sh0rTgIrL 4Real Atrox Young 76 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Melissa Sh0rTgIrL 4Real Atrox Young 104 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Jan van Darra Atrox Guardian 59 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Melissa Sh0rTgIrL 4Real Atrox Young 60 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Michell Michi Mcraph Atrox Guardian 71 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Melissa Sh0rTgIrL 4Real Atrox Young 76 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Jan van Darra Atrox Guardian 59 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Melissa Sh0rTgIrL 4Real Atrox Young 104 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Melissa Sh0rTgIrL 4Real Atrox Young 60 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Michell Michi Mcraph Atrox Guardian 71 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Melissa Sh0rTgIrL 4Real Atrox Young 76 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Melissa Sh0rTgIrL 4Real Atrox Young 60 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Jan van Darra Atrox Guardian 59 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Melissa Sh0rTgIrL 4Real Atrox Young 104 2010-03-16 11:55:30 Michell Michi Mcraph Atrox Guardian 71 2010-03-16 11:55:28 Melissa Sh0rTgIrL 4Real Atrox Mature 127
Thanks for reporting. I'll go have a look. Might have been a problem with the merging script. I'll revert as soon as I know more.
Hi, Something screwy going on with tracker atm I suddenly jumped up to 45k ped lol It should be around 30k I think, or there abouts. It is reporting my globals several times for each one.
yes, seems to be the same problem SF pointed at - obviously (sometimes) the tracker tracks globals more than once. Peter is looking into it. I wonder if it could be because of MA's servers? If it takes from what tracks from each server? Starfinder, didn't ET also have this problem at a point, I recall??
Yes we had that problem in the past. Took me a while to figure out how globals are broadcast (and hence logged to the chat.log file)....
From what I have been able to see so far is one of the clients was delayed in logging. Most likely the merge script we use failed to pick this up. We basically mark all processed globals. In this case I think the delayed client's reported globals were not marked in this way, causing the duplicates. It'll take me some time to remove the dupes. I'll try and see if I can make the merging process a bit more robust to prevent this from happening in the future. I think I will drop the log-time column from the merging process, and go for a slightly different mechanism.
I have had some odd issues where my client couldent read a chat.log file while the person running my client were also running another program which used the chat.log .. Then when the client/person stopped the other program.. 2 hours of globals would be sent to my server in a matter of seconds....... .. Now we need several sources to verify globals... :)
We have also seen something similar if someone was running the EU Client in full screen mode, but ALT + TAB'd out. This all would be so much easier if MA supplied some (hidden in chat) globalid, or the MA servertime when the global was logged into the chatlog. The way things currently get handled, I can imagine it also is hell for them to troubleshoot something if someone is filing a support ticket regarding a global, and copies the info from their personal chat log (timestamps being off and all). As for multiple sources, what if you only have 1 client tracking?
And hence we come to the "My global wasent logged" .. :-p Now you know why so many hasent been logged in the past... However, since we started "not being all dictator" on the chat.log we have had +15 clients feeding at all times (that i have seen)... with a peak of 73 (i think)...
- The next issue you will find is then that not all globals are broadcast everywhere in EU. So if you requere X clients to verify a global.. And you indeed do have X clients feeding.. Well, lets assume they are all standing in twins... I think that some areas of TI is not broadcast to twins - seems as if ~50% seg globals are only broadcast to twins. Ive been ingame in twins.. where no seg globals would show in the chat... yet my tracker site's live list just showed a seg global... So.. thats another fun aspect.. -_- .......
Aye. I logged a similar issue, just not related to SEGs. But we did notice not all globaldata received is equal. Seems MA forgot to update a few of their servers. Lykke and me first noticed it when I burst out laughing at someone's name in the globalchat, and her chat not showing the global. Course, MA closed the case after not noticing anything out of the ordinary, but the problem for sure is still there.
Glad to hear it :) We'll be finetuning the merger script a bit more as we find possible new anomalies. The new version of the tracker client should prevent data being sent from a "late" client, so hopefully we've seen the worst of it today :) Shame, as I was planning on doing a whole bunch of new statistics, but that'll give me somethign to do tomorrow :)
interesting so a global is not always a global but a local ;) I had no idea about this, thanks for feeding my information database on how game works :)
Thanks MindArk. With them, it's always a surprise ;) Just as a personal theory of mine, but I bet some of the MA coders in the past have worked on Business Objects. That's another collection of programming instructions tossed in a parser making you move from one facepalm to another.

The data merger has the lowest priority atm, i already mentioned that this is just a quick fix and it will be completely reworked once the new client version is out - the new client sends more data to ensure a correct datastream. The old data are stored and will be correctly merged and then replace the data you so love to c&p here - as long as this is not completed, you will ofc see duplicates from time to time. Thanks to everyone for their patience. :)
