I am posing a theory here (based on a discussion I had in-world), that MA does not directly sell, and has never directly sold, in-world land or estates or items. Does this sound credible, in light of recent EU activity, or does it sound unlikely?
I think MA does sell, the estates at least, through an avatar named "Marcus the Estate Broker" (if I am not mistaken) at the Auction.
"Marcus Callendar the estate broker" is the complete name. But selling appartments is history. I think in a rush a year ago someone bought all appartments which were for sale.
Uh...They 'sell' new planets (Server space, which is more than likely leased), banking contracts and the like. Even though it is not 'in-game' property it is still selling stuff. Just my two cents. :twocents:
Many thanks to all. Yep - I seem to remember "Marcus Callendar the estate broker" being on most of the estate terminals that I ever read as well. I suppose the operative word is 'directly', but even so, the idea that MA does not sell anything, would seem unbelievable. I'll be totally honest here... The conversation was about someone who asked MA in a support case, if it was possible for participants to purchase land and or estates out-of-world, because the available options in world seemed to be restricted to either land acquired via landgrabs (as and when MA issues them) or estate items such as appartments and hangers, and occasionally, things like banks and shopping malls. The answer from MA was - 'Hello, No, we do not sell any items/estates or land directly from MindArk PE AB...' Again, I suppose the operative word is 'directly', because indirectly; if not directly, surely MA has and is selling things in-world. 8)
