Kinda tempted I have to admit. Since I like writing on forums... might be right up my street...

Just watched though.... it seems to be 100% aimed at my generation. Lot of things I didn't realise, I kinda assumed for example there were always toys like starwars or at least had been for a fair while... didn't realise we were the victims at the start of a big social programming experiment that is culminating in games, credit cards, the internet and instant gratification nation.

Thankfully I'm not that bad but yeh I do feel a little like I've been programmed my whole life now. Reminds me of when my friend told me The Lion the Witch and Wardrobe was Christian Propaganda. I was a bit like this:

  2. The internet, designed to create a decentralised distributed form of allowing communication and commands to get through to those necessary to carry out and perform various functions (orders) from those above them in the command structure without the FEAR of these lines of communications being cut off ...

Oops back on topic, the internet, one big social (inc all of the social sciences together) experiment in further blurring the lines of culture, religon and tradition through limited connectiveness (lack of sensory perception) to see how people would interact and get on along with the other resulting outcomes that involves the behavioural sciences ...

Oops back on topic, the internet .... < I could do this at least a few dozen times literally even to the level of how it is used to identify those who have developed natural extra-sensory perception through the limits imposed by the internet over the natural course of their early childhood and beyond ....

Point being that we have all seen the impact one person can have on others over time throughout the ages even when media (cave images, dreamtime, historical texts such as in religious doctrines followed to mention one / towncriers (And even leaders, eg. Hilter for a more recent example regardless to what ends) / newspaper / radio / tv / games that teach us things > internet as the new medium to reach new depths, levels and degrees of what has gone before with a level of complexity and intricacy in "dissolving/blurring of the lines further" (a tearing down of boundaries on all levels) and mixing together of such things as culture, ways of thinking, social structures, power structures, belief systems etc (on all levels through the experiences gained living life at various levels) and the list goes on ....

There is too much to write in one reply and no one specific way to answer this HUGE spectrum that it all encompasses. without pigeon-holing, taking one standpoint over another (POV) eg. Rational and Structured (eg. Emperical through observation to obtain evidence) or through other "natural sciences" employing both emperical style methods along with more natural methods before science was defined more recently in history to involve more of the empirical approach to help in the focus and direction and the ability to assimulate and fathom/comprehend/understand etc...

Anyway this will become a very long reply again; So I will stop here on the above.

    I always loved this song and the "never-ending"-story that went with it as a kid;

It was "an attempt" to "bring about awareness" in the youth of that generation that other possibilities exist beyond what your presented with and told "this is this and that is that, period!" limitations imposed/impressed on young people's psyche, belief system and social structure at a young age when it is most impressionable while developing and cementing itself for adult life. (A planting of a seed of awareness if you will)

    Enjoy :)

PS. @Wistrel, enjoy another step in the awakening process to which you have stumbled upon in the OP (Without going into pointing fingers as to why this group of people did this or that and had this or that effect on another).

Unravelling and rebuilding a belief system is not an easy task, and more importantly only one that the "self" can achieve. Others can only provide the tools and resources by which you can do it once your ready to open your eyes and become aware of the possibilities that exist in life within the meta/macro-verse in which we exist.

And no I am not talking about what is considered by most as unbeliefable, not real etc. I am taking about what exists and due to this opening of awareness in some of our youth over time, has lead to further developments in the scope and context that can now be "believed/fathomed" to some degree by the masses as real (No longer fantasy) due to more empirical methods (I used the word "more" on purpose) now being employed to make the fantasy a reality .... read and understand (inc links) posts # 37 - 39 for one small example of what I am talking about.

Now put this in perspective with the ideal of "us" and "them" when we talk about things in life and "him/her" and "I", "that" and "this" when not involving people but other things etc.

Sorry for being vague on this point, but I think you will understand. (inc. what the concept of the internet provides with what I outlined above in minor detail as part of this progression along with the outcomes which need to be addressed as time progresses and things unfold)

.... This almost sounds X-File-ly

well IMHO people have always spent in history. It is just now we have opened up some of the flood gates and made it easier to do. I live in the US where online gambling is illegal for the most part. During the world cup while I played my game the UK players kept on having a conversation about the games that was always brought back to how much did u bet on that. I bet on myself and that's about all. never bet on others so this was a bit of an eye opener for me on how others spend money cause they have it. gaming (as in the ones we talk about) and the ones on tables and online are just means to an end. in the 1800s people bet their slaves. in the 1500s they bet their wifes. in the -300s they bet their pet dinosaur.
People will always bet and will always go too far. some companies and people pray on it and in some ways I don't feel bad for the idiots... Some will make smart decisions and I am happy for them. Some will learn and move on and teach their children and disciples what is best.. and I hold those people on a pedestal...
Now who will give 1:5 on taming?

  4. hehe, too short ;)

  5. Your not a victim, instead to some extent you are still in the role of follower/sheep/to-that-effect however you want to put it.

Most will live and die in this above role, influenced and controlled by others.

Not everyone is ready to take a hold of life and living, live in the moment and conciously, and more importantly taking responsibility for the outcomes produced as a result of their actions ... And when things do go south, take ownership of the situation to effect change when required.

The unravelling process is indeed very powerful as is the awakening process; and then resurfacing process that follows; new sight, new senses, new levels of understanding, it can all be overwhelming and overpowering, many have gone insane due to this process being done too quickly over the ages (One small example in the "esoteric context' is due to unnatural or forced release of too much kundalini/kandal at once / There are many other methods in other contexts also resulting in the same outcome), other take decades to reassert control over their new life and living again and/or grasp a handle of the whats, hows, whys, cans, etc if this occurs.

It is a gradual natural process for most, not an overnight one, though speeding up these processes through a guided process can also be followed. In more recent times this was termed "The Age of Enlightenment" by western culture but that too lost focus to what was intended. (Not the right time, in having come about as a result of historical oppression/etc)

  6. Is it not The Wanderer, the seeker of knoweledge through experience within all of us that reaches out to be a part of such "concepts" even if they are in the electronic form of a "virtual" universe.

The moneyaspect being the part that puts things in perspective with the real world (The economic limitations imposed on living life in the here and now) .... suspension of disbelief ... much like in understanding the cyberpunk genre to give another example. (Filing in that _______________ demonstrated in the video linked)

    Something to think about ;)

Then hold this in mind and think again ... including the money aspect ...

By the developers iMindArk n the real world on earth falling into the human trait pitfall of "GREED" including through those they attracted into their life to support the initial concept (And continue to invest later again more ) .... They are human too, even if they did dig this grave for themselves to fall into.

Did MindArk lose their sight much? Not sure of the way out yet? ... or can see a light but FEAR progressing towards it?

I will leave it there for now.

Now about creating a virtual life ... hmmm ... Ah yes I was watching this from a player's "first" build in ...
    Landmark still in development.
