I looked around on this site but I didn't find anything about mentors even when they where mentioned in the newbie tutorials. Can somebody tell me what they are and where to find them?
Mentors were part of the old system that have not been implemented yet in this version. (hopefully they will soon) A "mentor" would take on a "disciple" using an ingame contract that bound them together untill the "disciple" reached a specific skill level. 2000rifle or 600surveying were common ones, but you could graduate in almost any activity. When the "disciple" reached that level the "mentor" would receive a random gift from Mind Ark for helping the disciple learn their way in the world. Usually the gift was a useless gun or item, but occasionally there were very valuable items in terms of markup received. At that point the new player would have a good grasp of the game and be able to make educated decisions on their own. Even though the program isn't officialy in the game right now, I am an active mentor still. If you are over 18 and in North America, send me a pm and sign up for lykke's addopt a noobie foundation. unfortunaly I am only 17 and i live in belgium. thats on the other side of the atlantic. But I did sign up for the adopt a noob program
Cool, thats the first step, hopefully a European society will adopt you soon. In the future I would like to expand my society to include more europeans (we have a couple now) but because of the time zone differences I dont feel I would be a good mentor to someone that played at different times than me.
