It’s been a long time coming, but Microsoft has finally gotten around to restructuring the price increments for Microsoft Points on Xbox Live. The new scale starts at 400 points ($4.99), as opposed to the previous 500, and moves on from there: 800 for $9.99, 1600 for $19.99, and 4000 for $49.99. This move will help put an end to the ever-frustrating occurrence of having to buy more points than you need, and then having points leftover following a purchase, since a good portion of Xbox Live content is priced in 400 point chunks. There’s still plenty of content that will cause some point spillage, and this will continue to be an annoyance until Microsoft ditches the point system (please!), but this is a much appreciated first step.
