This text will gives you a insight to the basics rules of mining and a little help to get started.
The chapters only explain everything required to find ore. As usual in PE you need some luck to get success.

Tools you need
If you want to mining ore, you need some mining equipment to become a miner.
The tools are found in the trade terminal at tools menu at the mining category.
You Have to buy an Omegatron detectonator, a genesis earth excavator and some bombs to get started. If you wish to refine the extracted nuggets into ingots, you also need a chikara refiner. You can trade the nuggets itself,but usually many people want to buy ingots and you will also use ingots when crafting.
If you're only a miner you won't need the refiner.
For every attempt to find some ore you will need a bomb, so buy some more or you must return to trading terminals all the time.

The mining of energy matters works the same way but you'll need other equipment.
Instead of the Omegatron detectonator you have to buy an Enmatter detector, instead of the genesis earth extractor you need an energy matter extractor, instead the chikara refiner an energy refiner and instead the bombs you have to get survey probes.

Setting up the search
Now its time to find a perfect place to mine.
Old miners on Calypso have their own spots where they know they will find a certain mineral in a good amount. But normally they don´t share that information to others so it will be hard in the beginning.
If you think you are on a good place to mine, you have to equip your character with the Omegatron Detectonator. Also you must have at least one bomb in your inventory.
The detecting process begins with a left click on your mouse, like a shoot with a weapon, wich arms a bomb on the ground. After arming the bomb you will hear a beeping sound telling you the bomb is armed and ready to explode. Move away some steps or you will get an error message.
If you mean it is the right time to detonate the bomb, you switch to arrow mode (right mouse click if standard) and point to the flap below the detonate text on the Omegatron detectonator. The flap opens and you see a red button. This button, if pressed, will detonate the bomb.

Searching the goods
After the bombs has detonated you may have different results. The text "You found no resources", is equal to the text â??this creature dosnt carry any lootâ? at your hunt sessions and means there is no resource or your skills are not high enough to find anything there.
The message I prefer says you found a "size ore depositâ?. Then you get information on the distance to it, the depth of the deposit and the type of ore you detected. The radar screen on the detectonator tool will have an arrow to show you the way to find the ore.
When you follow the instructions untill you are closer than 4 meters, all eight arrows are blinking.
Now you have to press the Print claim button. At this time you have a rod on the ground that only you can use. You also get a claim deed in your inventory for that rod. The time a claim is active for you is shown in the chat window. For the information about the size and position of the claim and a map with the position you were it is in Calypso, you have to right click the claim deed in your inventory.
How long the claim is active befor it disappears is also shown in the claim deed.

Extracting the goods
To extract something from the earth you must equip your character with the genesis earth extractor. Target the claimrod on the ground (make sure the targeting box is around it) and left click your mouse to extract nuggets from the claim.
The extracted nuggets appears in a new window on your screen and you can press the 'take all' button. Now you have your first nuggets in your inventory. You can continue extrating the ore untill the claim is empty or untill you feel you have enough.
If you leave your claimrod , it will not respawn new ore and if you are in the claim active time you will not loose any of the ore for that rod.

In the endâ?¦
If you are a beginner your efford will most fail or you get very poor and small deposits.
But in time with higher skills you will find bigger deposit and you are able to find deposits at greater distance and depth.
Other skills getted at mining will allow you to extract more nuggets from deposit you find.
