Hey I just got L4D2 and Loaded the disc, and started up a Steam account to play it, but the game's not playing! I clik the desktop icon and it doesn't load, I try to start it on the Stream account and it still won't load. never used Steam before - am I doing something wrong?? ARRGH!
L4D2, any family of R2D2 by any chance? never heard of it I think. But googling the problem usualy yealts answers. Regards. Ion
Got the Left 4 Dead 2 game disk. Downloaded that. Apparently it uses Steam. Got that downloaded and registered an account on there. When I clik to play the game it for a second shows a small popup then that disappears and then there's an hourglass for maybe 5 seconds like it's trying to load, then nothing happens. Spent the entire evening trying to get it to run, Googled for fixes, those didn't work. Uninstalled, reinstalled the game and Steam several times. Nothing. Running Windows 7 64 bit.
Did you try a re download? Maybe a bit tumbeld over during the download. Or contact there support department. Regards. Ion
Now I'm really puzzled: Came home from work yesterday, cliked the game's icon, everything worked perfectly!!! So I played a few hours. Now this AM I get up, clik on it And the same problem I had is back!!! W. T.. F??!
Steam is screwy, me and my friends have problems running it from time to time. Steam, however, is the best online platform content at the moment as it automatically updates any of your games on Steam. Given that you just installed the game Steam is probably updating your game and downloading patches, etc. which might be a reason why you can't play sometimes. Pay attention to its tray icon in the bottom right-hand corner of Windows desktop, if it shows any indication of a download/update it will have like little arrows pointing down, etc. Somehow I think Steam is just being screwy with you, and my only other recommended solution I can think of is to just delete Steam and Left 4 Dead 2 and reinstall Steam (via online download), let it update itself, and then install L4D2 via retail CD, and let the game get patched and updated as well. I remember I had a similar problem, but only with Steam not running at times and a simple reinstall was all it took. The game is full of testosterone though, as playing Versus multiplayer is extremely competitive with others since the game focuses so much on teamwork and a simple mistake could *&%^ everyone over on your team easily - especially with only 4 players per team. If you manage to get the game running fine with Steam, send me a PM and let's get a game going - versus or co-op. I'm a casual player though considering the above mentioned who play, so I play to have fun, not competitively FYI. Some people really take the game too seriously. For those of you who don't know what Left 4 Dead 2 is - shame on you. Best game EVAR!!! >
