First of all, let me start off by thanking the EntropiaPlanets Premium Members whose contributions made it possible to buy the add-on making today's news possible :) Thank you for your support! Now onto the cool new toys! Today, we are thrilled to show you some new functionality we added that hopefully makes using private messaging (Personal Conversations) on EP a lot more user friendly and intuitive. I'll take you through the new features one by one: 1. Easily see conversation participants: Conversation participants will now be visible in both the conversation list and the inbox popup menu. In the conversation list, the participants are now as either avatars (default) or text (requires one click). Should a conversation have more participants than can be displayed, a '... and x more' link will be available to you which opens an overlay with a list of all the participants. Before: After: You can hover your mouse over the avatar to reveal the usernames as well. To switch between text-only and avatar-only, click the "Participants" link. 2. Easily see who has left a conversation permanently: Participants who have left a conversation permenantly (ie will never receive further responses), are now displayed with a strikethrough their username or an X at the top right corner of their avatar. This is invaluable information as before you did not know whether a participant will ever see/read your message. If all participants have left a particular conversation, the reply box will now be hidden to prevent sending out a message that no one will ever see/read. Before: After: 3. Multiple conversations manipulation: All conversations now have a checkbox beside their title, allowing for the selection of multiple conversations to be processed inline all at once. Actions that may be performed inline are: Leave a conversation Stick / unstick Mark read / unread Lock / unlock 4. Inbox size limit: We now also implemented a maximum size for your inbox. A visual percentage bar and text is displayed on the conversation list page, giving you a clear indication of exactly how much space you have left in your inbox. Once the limit is reached, you will be prevented from starting or receiving new conversations. Should a member be blocked from receiving a conversation, they will get an alert indicating that person X has tried to contact them but could not get through due to their inbox being full. Registered users will have an inbox limit of 1000 messages (which we think should be more than sufficient for most users). Premium Members will be able to store no less than 2,500 private conversations. 5. Sticky a conversation. Conversations can now be set as Stickies. A Sticky ensures the conversation will always remain at the top of the list. 6. Locked conversations: You can now lock conversations. This will display a 'locked' icon as well provide the appropriate status text when viewing the conversation. 7. Inbox popup last poster avatar: The inbox popup menu has an option to display the avatar of the last poster (instead of the default conversation starter). Before: After: 8. Last message preview: With this option, when conversation titles on the conversation list page are hovered, a preview of the last message will display. The functionality below is only available to our Premium Members. For USD 3.50 a month, or USD 35, you could join the ranks of the super cool and get access to a number of little perks that we think make your life easier. Click here for a full oversight of the benefits of our Premium Membership. 9. Premium Members: Participant groups: This option provides Premium Members with the ability to create Participant Groups. These groups of multiple recipient names are then available via a dropdown menu when starting a new conversation. This is a great time saver when you often need to start a conversation with the same group of people such as your society. 10. Premium Members: Auto respond to conversation starter: With this option, our Premium Members are able to set an auto response message to new conversations they receive while on vacation or otherwise being unavailable. Alternatively, it can just function as an automated response to a message. Each member can set a start date, an end date, and the message that will be automatically posted for them whenever they receive a new conversation.
WOW Peter ... the features at this forum just keep getting better and better. And awesome job at how you graphically explain all of them for better understanding. I absolutely love the XenForo forum software, and I'm glad we have it at the Cyrene Forum as well. Thanks for all your hard work in making this forum a MOST enjoyable environment to spend time at. Because of all you do, it makes it quite easy to support it. Oh, and btw ... ViagraFalls is looking cuter than ever!
I'm currently upgrading the system. The new functionality will be unavailable for about an hour or so.
Premium members now will also have the ability to prefix their conversations for even easier mail management. If stickying conversations alone is not enough, you can add custom prefixes to your conversations. To do so, head on over to your account, and then select "Conversation Prefixes": Using the "Create New PRefix" button, define as many of them as you want. Now, when you create a new conversation, you will be able to pick a prefix to it: The prefixes will clearly show in the list of conversations in your inbox, thus allowing you to easily classify PMs: And what's more is that the prefixes can be clicked to filter only the PMs with that particular prfefix, just as it works in Thread Prefixes:
