"new posts"

Discussion in 'About EntropiaPlanets' started by starfinder, Apr 6, 2010.

  1. Hey.
    A whish...

I would like the "new posts" link to actually be new posts, since my last visit/post/whatever on the site....

right now I can click "new posts" and a thread I have the last post in, is highlighted as a "new posts here" link... Which does not really make sense, since I posted the last post in that thread.....

    :)

Can that be done with this forum software?

    Hey starfinder.

The current implementation was done after others were annoyed that when they hit "new posts" results would be gone too fast. So yes, it can be done, but the current way it works has been made deliberately.

Blame me too then ;) I asked Peter long time ago to do this :lam:

  5. Could anyone explain the current setting then?
I'm always puzzled about how it works.

Another option would be to return "new posts" to its original configuration and put "todays posts" out front somewhere alongside it. I see you have it set up that way on your aw forum, and that seems to work pretty well. Then each person can pick their own preference sub-consciously.

  7. Yeah.. I think I would like that as well...
To have "New posts" be all posts made since the server "cached" which posts are new - if thats how it works - then thats fine for a small forum where there isent a lot of posts.

Imagine 5000 posts / day.. new posts would be impossible to overcome..
If you still want "all new'ish posts".. do a "today's posts".. or "last 12 hrs" or whatever.... The link to "New posts" should reflect its name - NEW posts.. - which it isent at the moment.

The difference between new posts and Today's posts (which incidently is available as the first option under the Quick Links drop down menu) is Today's posts accounts for all posts from the last 24 hours.

If my memory serves me well, the new posts shows (now) the new posts from the last hour and a half or so.
