Hello all, ive been playing EU for about 2-3 days now, and after reading the forum talking to people on a IRC etc, ive noticed that there is is only a handful of people willing to explain anything or even help. the most helpful person i have meet is Krimey and a nice person called Aron i meet today, otherwise most are blanetntly rude and ignore me. In general, this game is extreamly UNFRIENDLY to beginners, athlough it seams a few do try, please note i say unfriendly not just because of the poeple but because of the general setup, i was lucky someone showed me neas place but i can easily see why most people give up within first few hours of this game. long story short, hopfully in a month once i get some peds form sweeting ill get to finally enjoy and try the game, until then ill just sweet alot ^^ anyway hello all, ^^ hopfully ill see you all around and oneday fly with you etc..
A big part of the game is the forums, you will find the more helpful people here so you can do your research and question asking during the times your not playing, and then when you get ingame you have a better grasp of whats going on :) welcome to the universe :) narfi
one thing why people might seem rude to you is the amount of newbies coming into the game these days. So a lot of the people you'll meet are new to and unable to help you. The old players that do want to help are overworked by the amount of newbies and questions. It also depends on where you are, but Port Atlantis and the both Swamp camps should be OK and most of the time there are people around that wanna help. One other thing you need to remember is that a lot of people think it is rude to just open a private chat or trade without asking first and might tell you that if you do, this could come across as rude, but is just game ethics :)
Sorry to hear your newcomer experience is less than optimal, kurosaru. As mentioned earlier, the forums are a good place to seek guidance. On planet, sometimes it's how you ask things that will get or not get an anwer. As far as communicating with other colonists, most people do not like strangers running up and requesting PM. If you're doing this, it'll cause an unreceptive audience almost immediately. Try asking questions in public chat, and make sure you're that some folks that aren't wearing newcomers rags are in the area to answer. We are having a glut of new folks with all the news regarding Planet Michael, The Universal Monsters planet, Planet Arkadia, and the CND sale, so please bear with the colonists that are volunteering to assist new folks. They're taking time from their playtime to answer questions. Kudos for Krimey and Aaron, whoever they are! :) Some questions if I may. During that couple of days of play you've logged, did you do the missions available at the newcomer station and at Port Atlantis before travelling to Neas? Those missions are designed to help familiarize newcomers with how things work on Calypso.
@all : to clear things up i never once opened a PM or trade to anyone as id consider that rude anyway. a few times i would be in a area and say hi to people or ask a question in general chat, id get completely ignored. as for the calypso training area the mining quests are near useless they dont teach you a thing. as for rest of they were ok and yes they teach the basics of gameplay, it really does need emphases on fact unless your willing to deposit money you goto sweet for ages (been sweeting all day today, im not complaining about that ^^). But as a general noob first impression, the graphics are brilliant cant fault them, noobs quests are ok proberly could be better but they are ok, anyway thank for the walm welcome all, the forum is a nicer place, as for help in game im ok now, im farming sweet and saving up for my first 100ped before i do anything ^^.
