Softy asked if I was going to post my articles here, but I said I would only start a thread to alert everyone that they were available.

I finally took my maiden voyage to Next Island after having a nice chat with both Meg and Harold, and told them that I would do a report on it to help give Next Island some more exposure.

Part 1 of this 4-part series is posted at EntropiaPlanets - Parts 2 and 3 will be posted over the weekend, and Part 4 will be posted on Monday.
    • Part 1 - the newbie experience
    • Part 2 - exploration of Next Island proper
    • Part 3 - exploration of ND's island
    • Part 4 - time travel to Ancient Greece
I really enjoyed my newbie experience, and I like how everything is set up. I will make a post in this thread to alert when the next part in the series is available.

:p ... it's one of the things I really enjoy doing the most in our universe, and I plan on doing more of them. I actually have something special in mind during this trip, so I'm hoping I have the time to do it. Glad you enjoy the stories. :) Oh, it was nice running into you as well ... it's been a while.

Is that so ... well chickie, you're going to have to do better than that. They were a walk in the tree house, so you're gonna have to up your game a bit ... you're slacking off. :p

Thanks for sharing, MindStar9. Looks like a very warm and inviting four-part series on our beloved Next Island planet.

Just as a suggestion on titling for Part-1 - the newbie experience, I feel "Arrival on Next Island" or something similar is more appropriate. Here is where I'm coming from, having been a newbie myself on Next Island about six months ago. From your travel log in part one, the newbie experience usually does not factor in taking out a papoo when in need because at the beginning a newbie has no PED for a weapon. No mention is made on observations about newbies learning to sweat or of trying to sell that sweat to obtain PED for some weapon. The newbie experience is fraught with questions, uncertainties, bumping into things, and learning who to trust. It is great you mentioned the natural friendliness of the many people you come across, because Next Islanders are just like that just about everywhere you go. So for a newbie, that can really help take out some of the fear factor and uncertainty in the arrival and acclimating process to a new world.

To be fair, this is a wonderful piece that highlights many of the positive changes (and peeks) in store for Next Island through the experiences and eyes of a seasoned Entropia gamer. I look forward to all of your next pieces that really capture some wonderful personal moments.

Corey ... I've always formed my own opinions, and what I have posted in the past had nothing to do with the physicality of Next Island whatsoever, and ... the new player experience that's in place right now was just implemented, so it was a system that wasn't in place in the past, much like the basic systems that help promote an economy.

My comments in the past have nothing to do with what experiences I'm having now, and everything to do with how the planet was delivered ... there's a big difference, but I don't want to get into that discussion with you, so please, let's just leave it alone. Things have changed, there's a new direction, and I am making an effort to support David and his new team to showcase the planet. I want no more arguments.

I'm continuing my explorations today, tomorrow and Monday and will be doing my reports at EP. I'll alert everyone in this thread when they have been posted.

In the meantime, thank you for the compliment, and I hope you enjoy my future reports.

To Tom ... I totally understand where you're coming from for sure, and if I were doing an extensive overview of the newbie experience, then I would certainly include all those things that you mentioned. This is an exploration of a veteran Entropian who has allowed the planet to blossom a bit more, and now that there's a new direction and changes have been made, I was more inspired to make the journey and have the adventure.

I am basically doing a condensed version of what I'm sure could most definitely be a more involved endeavor, but time is limited and I wanted to at least be able to showcase the experiences in a revealing (albeit somewhat subdued) and fun manner to the community.

This is not an official documentation of Next Island, but rather a fun exploration to bring what I can for now to the front pages of EntropiaPlanets to gain Next Island more exposure within the community, and hopefully inspire them to at least make a trip to the planet to have their own adventure. I am Tweeting about the series (David Post has re-Tweeted my Tweets when I Tweet about Next Island), and I'm also posting at my MindStar Media Facebook page about it as well, so I'm making the effort.

Perhaps I could have used a different title for Part 1 - but I actually wanted to highlight that it was the beginning experience - not a complete experience by any means, but a beginning, and I wanted to separate it out from the rest of the parts.

If you are unaware, I have been a Picture Storyteller for EU since the Summer of 2005, which is different than my more serious writing in the EntropiaTimes magazine - and with picture storytelling, I do take liberties.

At any rate, I hope you enjoy the series. :)
