With NI slowly coming out of the abandoned corner, is the forum going to live again, too, or is is "that" place the only address to be for spreading information? My user doesn't have sufficient privileges on NIF to even say hello in the greetings section. http://www.nextislandforum.com

I did, but it still shows 'insufficient privileges'. Well, great to know the right person is right here :) Merging sounds like a good idea to me, too, since extended infrastructure exists already here. The old teleporter list at NIF I found still useful for filling in what I didn't have.
Yeh works for me... I'd vote to merge in here and redirect. Resistance is futile your forum will be assimilated into our collective conscience.
From my point of view we have three and a half locations only in EU that deserve to survive and should be intense developed: Calypso as a resource for materials and as trading planet Next Island with its original concept of time travel Toulan as a real arabian world Howling Mine as a place for sex and crime, drugs and illegal items, a base for pirates and smugglers All other spots neither have a unique or interesting concept nor a meaningful future. My favorite world is still Next Island.
Thought Toulan and NI have picked up as of late, they still are not the crowd pleasers (yet). Of the two, Toulan is most interesting in that there is actual development happening there while NI has sat stagnant for quite a while in it's present state. Howling Mine is a waste of time to go to. It is so off the beaten path so no one goes near it unless they have to. Also, MA has done nothing with it.. It's a floating rock with no one on it. I also noticed you left Ark out of your list. I give props to the A-Team for continuing to develop content and competing with MA (Calypso). They are definitely much more responsive to inquiries and receptive to new ideas. I'd much rather use Ark as my Material Planet but Calypso still is the hub of trade in EU. Also, isn't the entrance to Secret Island now on RT (I have no idea since the concept of time travel in this game isn't something I'm looking for so have never pursued it)?
There is no way to add Arkadia to my list as far as I can see. Even Cyrene had once a better concept. As I mentioned: This is my point of view. To return to topic: NI with its original plot is still my favorite. Second would be Howling Mine if someone would take over and develop it. It could become something like Tatooine in Outer Rim. Soooo many oportunities! NI and Howling Mine together could attract me to come back. But I doubt this will happen. Toulan could become interesting as well if the developers would more or less consequently follow some arabian concepts. Regarding clothes (especially women's clothes) and guidelines from Koran like in Saudi Arabia were children are teached in school to kill Christians because they are disbelievers and women are not allowed to drive cars (vehicles). Why not show how this world works with a true arabian planet? Death scentence for bad speech or whip or stone one (= loss of skill points) according to Shari'ah.
This list of preferences is as individual as players come. If I were to state mine, I have no interest in an arabian world at all and its occupying a full corner of the pizza space is a waste to me. I spend much time on Arkadia which is very well designed and has a lot to offer. Also Cyrene, despite its forever-beta state. And I like Rocktropia, too. Next Island is a place I definitely want to see at least preserved, if not developed. But who cares for opinions? In the end, each planet partner attracting enough interest to keep the lights on will determine its future. I don't have to go everywhere, I just can't anyway for lack of time and money.
YA, Cyrene was quite cool in its early days...while there still had been no hard-launch, it feels it is dieng by now...
Still not been to cyrene or toulan or the howling mine. There are always new places to explore for me. Still think MA should give NI to the community let them have access to develop it, create new models, add to the world, tidy the landscape, write missions and stories. Would be a world first for an MMO. An entire player run section developed by the players for the players. Yeh yeh I can dream but it won't happen. Actually I'm not sure if MA even own Nesoi Makaron?
Yes for NI. But it would end up in fights about who was 1st with ideas...some wont like mobs... They should sell it to us...wait they already sold Calypso to us...we need to vote for a Virtual President I think and... Lets travel to Toulan, before it shuts down...nah, not in the mood.
Don't waste time on the mine... Last time I was there I got a bit stranded since none of the terminals there worked.
I nearly went there yesterday as there appeared to be some sort of cool looking leather type armour. Alas further inspection revealed it had silly shiney bits on it so I lost interest.
