The mission Bruce challenge is currently not active, any kills at this time will not count to a reward. Please see future release notes for further updates on this situation. Source
So Mindark is the one who developing NI now or there's someone else bought it silently and start to develop it again?
From what I understand someone finished a long grind mission there and now MA has reneged on the reward.
regenged? Guess you mean "not given". They need to take some responsibility! After all PP's only get half the revenue, MA get the rest. It wouldn't kill them to fix the bear minimum to ensure the players don't get pissed off at Entropia as a whole and leave as a result of Next Island fail. They loose players and those plays write negative press.
re·nege riˈneɡ,riˈniɡ/ verb go back on a promise, undertaking, or contract. "the administration had reneged on its election promises" synonyms: default on, fail to honor, go back on, break, back out of, withdraw from, retreat from, welsh on, backtrack on; break one's word/promise about "he reneged on his campaign promises" another term for revoke (sense 2). archaic renounce or abandon (someone or something).
quite a few missions don't work in Next Island at the moment, so it does not surprise me. That's why it's best to just stay away from that planet for now... Too dangerous assuming that anything will work. If it keeps up, that assumption might start applying to all of Entropia Universe, which will be the start of the end game for everyone who isn't out yet. The more facebooky the game gets with compets and rings and lockboxes, the worse it'll probably get over time. Soon people will be paying for stuff like lockboxes while others are getting them for free as a daily giveaway in compets or something silly like that. L items and non-tradeable items already lowered the value of the game in a lot of folks eyes... only a matter of time til more decide to stop paying for pixels on a server they have no control over that could potentially lower the value of those pixels overnight for no reason whatsoever.
Cannabis probably? Or hops and malt? To run a modern farm of whatever one would need farm machines as well. Tractors with plough, harrow and trailer. A harvester. Additional fertilizers and insecticides. Finally MA could think about sheeps, goats and cows or even horses. FarmVille even ;-) Not to speak about a brewery: Finally we would get Beer for all the construction workers ... Resuming this I have to admit: such concepts would fit best to a project like colonising new worlds. Last but not least we may think about something like this: "Tame your bunny!" even ... and bring it to level 10 or whatever the highest level of this new nonsense is. @MA: Need more of such crazy ideas? Just hire me. Got a lot of them in storage.
Back on topic! For me Next Island was a really great concept. Time travel to different worlds of human history and probably other themes like fantasy worlds like NEVERDIE realized with the movie adoption of "The Thing". Ofc "Ancient Greece" was THE FIRST CHOICE for a melee hunter like me. Especially I liked the restrictions to local conditions: no future technology like flying vehicles and such. Other possible worlds could offer features like magic. Fantasy worlds even. Powerful rings and amulets could play a major role. Magic wands and enchantments. Everybody would understand that such things are okay for this part of the game. But restricted to this area. Magic rings at Calypso? It's a no go if you ask me. NI could be the non-serious part of MA's offers. They could offer there everything that doesn't fit to a society of spacemen who try to colonize a new world. Kinda "Timetunnel" if one is old enough to remember this British TV series. Calypso (serious) + NextIsland (crazy) would be the perfect combination. Alas ... MA is a too small company to fulfill such a project I think. P.S. Keyword "NextIsland (crazy)": It could also be a very good vehicle to show historical issues as educational stuff ... just a raw idea, but really within the abilities of EU. P.P.S. Seems I have my creative evening tonight - lol! MA should really hire me as creative director instead of this guy we saw for too long at the head screens of this forum. And don't forget the original founder David Post!
Well I remember someone from MA saying something like "scifi is a genre that allows the biggest breadth of possibilities of genres but wouldn't it be rather dull to limit things to just scifi?". To be fair I agree after a bit of consideration. Reason I like RT. It is fun and imaginative and kinda unique in the MMO scene too I think (not counting the latest GTA but even that doesn't have vampires in!). Like you Jamira, I really liked the restrictions in Greece. It made it a challenge and a bit different, plus put people on more of a level playing field. It created a scenario where an uba could play with a newbie and no one was at much of an advantage. That said, while I don't "support" MA's decision to open up Greece to other gear I DO UNDERSTAND it. The reality is that NI is clearly some sort of stale mate. I don't know what went on between David Post and MA but there must be something daft going on like he is still footing the bill to MA to keep it running but isn't developing or maintaining it anymore, therefore MA are somehow contractually obliged to leave it alone? I don't know, this is just a guess. So guessing MA have this decaying area they are obliged to keep running (maybe Post holds them responsible for breaking it?) but either don't have the resources to or are not allowed to modify/fix it? With regard Ancient Greece, while the restrictions were good the area needed development. A lot of it was empty (pretty but empty) and lacking point and without better gear it was hard to explore and survive. So yes Greece needed better armour and weapons and some sort of chariot! But it was never finished. I can well understand therefore that the easiest "fix" to MA is to allow other gear in. They can probably even pass it off as a change to the code base that the NI devs would need to address... and since the NI devs are no more... it stays unrestricted. Personally, the thing I loved about the NI time travel concept was the idea of having just ONE landscape and then viewing it at different time periods. The landscape could change of course a bit over long periods of time (as land does) but the recognisable features was what I liked. I really liked that the cave remained the same but with the roof exposed in one. There was something very cool and unique about that. If I had the opportunity I would totally become a Next Island Developer. If I were MA, permissions allowing, I would move Next Island to Calypso and integrate it with the existing storyline. One might say it was a bit hacked in but I think it could be easier / more natural than people think. Long live Nesoi Makaron.
OK loose outline for a NI comes to Calypso story: In short, Robots did it. ;) Nah really, they are clearly up to some serious shit here: So one day there is a massive build up of power and a discharge, mass electromagnetic field, sky turns pink white for a moment, everyone fell to the floor clutching their heads (yes I've been watching Lost) then nothing. What happened? News quickly rolls in of an island in the middle of the Calypso equivalent of the Pacific (I assume there is one) that wasn't there before. The conclusion being that whatever the robots are up to it has something to do with dicking in space time (maybe like the Borg in First Contact) but clearly something went very wrong. Where is this island from? The inhabitants are just as clueless. Something is clearly very amiss there. To top it off there is this strange cave located somewhere on the island that transports people back in time... but in the past there is just the island... in fact it seems to be linking not just to another time but perhaps even another place and reality. So that is the basics... implementation could be a simple shift job. If MA wanted to take it further and actually use the island though... The arrival of the island caused chaos. CDF immediately stepped in and declared the island a military outpost in the war against the robots that should be left to their jurisdiction. Rumor quickly circulated that the place was a paradise however and before long colonists and the independent scientific community demanded access. CDF stood their ground but eventually gave in and conceded they couldn't stop people coming to the island. They wouldn't budge on the Cave though thus angering Chikara, Omegaton, RDI and pretty much everyone else keen to study the phenomenon. The hope was that the cave held the key to a new form of travel, with the potential to open portals back to earth, other star systems or even other dimensions. Omegaton fell back on their routes in corporate espionage and started hiring undercover agents to infiltrate the CDF defenses. The mission: Go back to Ancient Greece, blend in so as not to alert the locals or CDF agents, collect as much intel and resources as possible and then make it back to Calypso to report findings. Time passed and one day there was a land grab on the cave, CDF were forced to temporarily retreat where upon Omegaton Scientists got to work on the portal. They succeded in opening a second portal to another time where the land was covered in ice. At the same time Massive robot task forces started appearing on the island in the Calypso time frame while CDF were in a weakened state. The ENN quickly declared a state of emergency and the fight was back on again. Wistrel PS If MA or David Post want to hire me, there's plenty where that came from. I'm next free in November, which conveniently will be just before MA's next major VU ;)
robocopter Jamira ! *sigh* ya, I can SEE a bright future for Entropia as well this way. ;) Aahhhh, the diversity... x'D Generation facebook is about to take over Entropia. Lol, just Lol @ Half a$$ed attempts on Next Island Lol @ Compet prototype and Lol at the people still cheering "Hail MA!"...what a show ! :D *leans back*
Well, it seems you and me (and several others) became dinosaurs. No worries. Someone who ask for Dollars (MA) and don't want my Dollars may offer things I don't like. NP I guess. Probably the Cents of all that facebook folks will do the job better than my Dollars. *leans back* as well.
