As an additional update ... Erik said that Next Island: Origins is on a unified platform so it supports Facebook elements for future updates, and is legitimate (someone asked about a Facebook pop-up while downloading the app).

Also, someone had asked about the possibility of it being available for the Kindle (I would love this), and the response I got was ... while there's no exclusivity with the technology, they chose the current platforms for their popularity and ability to evolve over time. It also allows them to update the application to reveal future stories and content. However, Erik did say (regarding the Kindle I believe), that if the community wants it, then they can eventually look into it, but for now, there's nothing in the works.
