Any thoughts or comments from the admin/developers about the timeframe for the next VU? What we know so far: Turrets will be implemented, as stated by ND himself Return of the Noob Club (L), as stated by MA that they will return after New Year What we can reasonably expect: Corrected names on Portal Guardians and Chimeras so we know what maturities they are before they attack us Fixes on small glitches like the enchanted area river bug. Fixes on the technician Papoo, hopefully with new planet specific blueprints. Fixes on the missions, plus new ones What we (I?) hope for Resizing of the planet specific loot at 50%, so that we don't spent 10 minutes after each hunt to put things in their place. More info on time travel and how it works, or at least a hint or two. We know that "the players will have to work together to unlock it" and that it will use crystals, but so far no luck. I know that due to timezone differences and server sync issues with MA it's hard or at times impossible for the development team to know exactly what will be in the updates, but at least some comments on when the next VU is expected would really help the community a lot. Feel free to add other (reasonable) things i might have forgotten.
Agree with all Manny, also the support website needs to get a security certificate so we can actually use it. To me the main draw is the time travel, and so yeah, would like to have a clue if it is even active or when it may be if possible, and any more helpful hints at least about how it works (we have to figure it out together, maybe we have to team?). I forgive ND for the ore amp new years eve fiasco, though a statement about the when of the avatar changes etc would still be nice for those of us who have tried supporting NI from day one and just want to feel we aren't being ignored and actually matter in the scheme of things. NI goes live again it seems today in Las Vegas and is being promoted as 'open' to new accounts once again, shame an MA update didn't come yesterday to address all of the issues (hello-earth to sweden lol).
I know what you're saying Lee. I for one sure hoped that we'd get an update before the official launch, but it seems that was not in (MA's?) cards. I'll redouble by efforts on rescuing newbs from the Serpentine village and other unlikely tp's that they seem to start from till the update arrives, even though it's really taking a toll on my ped card atm. And of course i managed to forget to mention the new players spawn problem, but i guess we covered it now.
Are we getting a VU update on the 5th or 6th of January 2011 We will open our Beta on Dec 7-8 so you all can play - it will not be publicized. We will have our trade launch - to the media at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 5th. This was the decision I made because we will have TV coverage then. We will announce and allow the media entry on Jan 5th at the Digital Experience Show at CES. We will have our consumer launch around the 3rd week of January 2011 with events in New York City and Los Angeles (maybe other places as well). the source About Next Island - EntropiaPlanets Wiki - Information about Entropia Universe Message from David Post to the community ... Or is it on Release: 3rd week of January 2011
this is one really one awaited vu from me:) really want blueprints...and noob clubs... From what I know about ma's time of implementing a vu it seems it won't happen today either so probably that"3d week of jan" is the true date. Till then...
Lately MA tends to inform us one day in advance about the updates, so since we haven't seen anything yet i guess the closest would be Monday. That is if we get an announcement tomorrow... I know that most of the Next Island team is at CES (anyone seen any coverage, any news?) but still an 'expected' VU day would be really appreciated.
i have never ever really been looking forward mentionably to any updates before, but this update is one i am going crazy having to wait for :) NEVERDIE, care to give us any information at all? :) Even a rough estimate would be awsome :D
I've been told that NDS no longer manages the planet/community/events/websites/gameplay etc (as was the plan all along apparently), since December they are only in charge of 3D graphics at the request of the NI live team, whoever that is. NDS is apparently still working on fixes and content updates, but it looks like we are going to have to wait for any kind of news or communications to come from whoever is on this NI live team or is assigned the task to share with us, the active, in the game community of apparently 'thousands' of 'pioneers'. (Sharing with us in my view anyway includes this official forum, not just facebook and twitter links to PR releases and reviews, but maybe that's just me) There is plenty in the pipeline it seems judging by the news on the NI website but for now I personally feel a strong sense of disconnect here between what the media is seeing and hearing and what the players ingame see and hear, but any 'oldtimers' know that is sort of standard for Entropia anyway and we are used to it, new players not so much and not so dedicated to overlook it as much, guess it is up to each new planet to choose the path they want to take in that department. Looking forward to eventually getting a VU, some communication, and for me personally, a successful log in (bugged for two days now, and no solution from support yet, I'm techy enough to know it is nothing on client side and was an 'event' on server side with my specific account, but I have to wait for support to actually read the details in my ticket and figure that out themselves). If nothing else works I may have to request moving my avatar back to another planet and paying for the transport, at least until a lot of the issues improve, including a website security certificate for the Next Island support portal that isn't the one owned by Planet Calypso, thus causing it to be blocked by IE and FF etc. Sorry all, a bit early for so much 'whine', will have a bit more coffee now instead :dynamic:
Well, at least we now know we'll get the 3-D Secure system with VU 11.5.5 that's scheduled for Next Week... Why don't we have MA's announcement feeds in this forum by the way?
not much for news, but atleast it tells us they haven't slipped into a coma :) from the client loader: 11 Jan 2011 22:21 UTC We're getting reports from new players and regulars that there are aggressive mobs in the starter areas. Next Island is aware of the problem, and our awesome, hardworking team is working to correct this as soon as we can.
