NI Music

I`m all about music. But I only turn it on in game maybe once a year or so for a few minutes. Been like that for many years. I don`t care what they play. I tend to get too involved in my music either playing, singing or whatever. So it becomes a bit of a distraction to me.

 

I just... uhm... how to say this....

I feel like this thread is the wrong approach. We're basically telling NEVERDIE how to run his music selection. That's not cool. If he wants to play annoying music and advertise Rocktropia on Next Island he should be able to do it.

I think this is a development issue more than an issue with CND itself, and its something David Post and other PP's should be aware of. CND covers almost 1/4 of the total land area on Next Island. Its a prominent feature. Having obnoxious music and ads for other worlds piped to roughly 1/4 of the total usable area is a turn off, and developers should work to avoid this in the future.

I hope David Post adds more available land all around Next Island, and turns it into an archipelago with atolls like a cross between Hawaii and French Polynesia (and has a cool backstory to go along with it --- one that actually matters in game and adds a sense of urgency to player interactions) . We cant take away NEVERDIE's right to play what he wants. He owns this land. The only thing we can do is work to minimize its impact on the presentation of the world in the future.

 

And why he has MUCH better mining areas with higher MU ores. And why he has all of the mobs on the planet there. And why there is only one revival terminal there. And why he has more home and shop locations then the rest of the planet.

But back to the music.... I have an idea...
Why don't we all just start hanging out at the new arrival area. No annoying music, it has all the terminals, and... as new people arrive on planet there would be people there to greet them.
So.. Lets all move to Crystal Resort Beach Lodges. (And maybe they could put in a Jukebox.)

Anyone notice that on the poll the music type with the least votes is rap?

 

Dear God no! From a completely business point of view I want people hanging around CND cause my booth is there :)

But it actually wouldn't be a bad idea to have people welcoming new comers, I mean for the last two weeks or so of the Serpentine bug we had an almost constant watch there rescuing and welcoming new players.

 

Yes, although that area around CND only has sales tax, no hunting or mining tax.

 

I personally hate having the main area in a tropical island being blasted with rap and rock most of the time. Even though I like some of the rock (Black Betty, Nothing Else Matters) I would still rather it was something more tropical. I completely get that it's neverdie's place, but isn't there some way to communicate to him that it's kind of killing the atmosphere and ask for at least a somewhat toned down version of the playlist?

Also, a bunch of people said they just turned it off. I'm a noob. How do I do this?

 

Sounds good to me, but no jukebox please. The regular in game music is quite nice. If there's any sort of Jukebox it should be a custom station where you hear what you want to hear like pandora.

 

It`s a tough balance. the CND area definitely has that reggae island type vibe. Different areas all have their own feel and seem like they warrant a different kind of music. Then again many people will enjoy music that appeals to them say when hunting or just sitting at an outlook somewhere. But too keep it from getting stale you have to toss it up a bit and have some variety. That`s what first got me to turn the music off after a year or so in game when it just used to repeat on Calypso. But when your creating a planet such as say Rocktropia or a brand as ND does your going for a certain main vibe or theme and will deviate in other areas where needed.

Some eventual options would be nice to have in game. But you can always customize your own playlist on your computer to listen to also. It`s the only way everyone can be pleased aside from not being pleased they have to do it.

 

Right click > Main Options Menu > Options > Sound, and from there just set the Music slider all the way to the left.

 

oh give me more reggae please :)

Yeah I know what you mean, I'd like to turn off the CND music sometimes and just leave the background music, but I don't belive you can.

 

You can turn it off and leave the background audio. When you first start the client on tools there is an option to disable streaming audio. That kills the CND streams (and anyone elses -- but since nobody else uses it, it basically just kills the CND stream :-D)

 

Since NI is about Time Travel and Relaxing how about some soothing New Age. It will lower the stress of loosing peds.

If they change the tracks to stuff a little more NI appropriate I'll re-enable it, but for now it's going off. :)

 

the default NI music is nice an peaceful. I like it.
